Hello to citehrians !!!
I am a regular visitor of this cite and find myself addicted to it. I am facing a problem and its my earnest request that kindly provide me with some fruitful solutions. At present I am working as a HR (Trainee) in one of the private companies, its my first job after passing MBA(HR) in 2009. I have no issues either with the job or the organization. Infact in this darkest hour of recession I feel I am blessed with such a good profiled job. Actually am a resident of Kolkata, and have shifted to Mumbai for this job. I find myself very lonely and alienated. This city is new to me and i know none from Mumbai. I feel frustrated during weekends, i dont know what to do. I dont have friends to hang around with, neither laptop to watch films. Kindly suggest some ways to judiciously pass my time. I need to engage myself, so let me know how can i utilize my weekends.
regards
jnandi.

Well I understand how frustating it must be to spend weekends all at home without doing much.
You can always make friends with your colleagues in the organisation you work in and go out with them during weekends.
You can join some hobby classes, if you have any.
Read, buy a laptop, watch movies, chat with your friends etc etc...
Hope this helps...
Sanket

Thanx Sanket for ur suggestion, but dont u think buying a laptop would mean a lot of investment for me. It can be thought in the longrun. And as far as making friends are concenrned, u know how Mumbaikars are...very busy in their own lives.can u suggest me some part time jobs in Navi Mumbai, eg, teaching etc.
regards,
jnandi

Hi,
You really dont need to invest in a laptop, but you can go to the nearby net where you can make new friends online (again, be cautious :)) and as suggested by Sanket you can always build a relation with your colleagues which would help you at all times. And would suggest that you since this is your first job give your best and get focused and think about part time in the long run.
Also you could pick a books to read.......

Hi,
Why dont you take up some short term courses which offers classes on weekends. That would add value to your profile and also is an avenue to get know more people and have friends.

shijit.

Hi...
I don't know how you receive this but you seem to be a good writer, I mean well articulated. If you have the habit of reading, just write abt your experiences in a book or on a blog. I am sure someday you will enjoy reading that yourself. Writing helps a lot in mind relaxation.
Also see if this website helps you keep engaged..www.academia-reasearch.com. It offers freelance writing opportunity and they pay you too.

Hi jnandi,
I can understand your situation.. you can buy a Television (cheaper now-a-days) & can watch 24x7 news channels to gain your General knowledge, Current affairs etc. Also have a good relationship with your colleagues, invite them to your Home or you can go to their home on week ends. The best time pass is to browse the Net & collect some useful informations related to your profession. Search sites in google to know about Mumbai's sight seeings, best land marks, tourist spots etc...

Thank you all, for your valuable suggestions...i shall try to implement on some...but i cant buy a television, since in my pg Television wont be allowed. Actually i have always been a good writer, as rightly accessed by Samant, i have already written a magazinr for a MDP- Training and Consulting Center. Moreover i have also worked in the past as a content writer. I am thinking of taking up a part time job...i am actually good with presentations, communicaton and have also conducted 13 hrs workshop on HR concepts in my MBA College itself. So if anyone can kindly tell me of similar opportunites in Navi Mumbai...i would be greatful. Moreover i dont want to take up courses right now, since i have limited resources at my avail. At this point of time i would like to Learn and earn something...sharpening the saw can be left to the future. I am also a voracious reader..so i do take up readings...but weekends means 48 hours...i really get bored...
regards
jnandi.

You can join dance class, yoga, aerobics, kick boxing, swimming etc.
You can also be a member of clubs depending on your intesrest: adventure club, Biker's club etc.
You can also volunteer for social activities, be a member of social organizations: tree plantation programmes, aids awareness, child education etc.
Love:wink:
Sonia

Hey Nandi..
Actually what's your name, but anyways you proved my point. You are really interesting.
And it is not 'accessed' it should be 'assessed' if I am not wrong.
