Its better to start with some small manufacturing comp where
you can learn and get the overall idea of HR .
Then you can opt for any division of HR as per your like.
That way in HR ,generalist role is always in demand and it
will be in demand i feel.
But the market is very low right now, so should i wait till i get a right opening as HR Generalist or get into a consultancy as recruitment executive(which im getting very easily)

Yes Preeti your idea is right . If u get any chance to join any consultancy you should not waste time. U work here for the time being until u get a good break. Its good rather than sitting idle. Bcoz its recession period.

start with a recruiter firm
then build upon skillsets eg Competence mapping or Compensation designing or Social compliance etc and look for a suitable opening later
pick a few short term courses in the above n join a good setup from day one
Nothin to worry, join consultancy, u vl get good exposure. Don't stop trying corporate role. In my case, I was joined as recruiter, parallely I was tryin for corporate. Nw I am an Asst. Manager - HR in leading truck manufacturing firm. I was thr in consultancy nearly about 1.5 yrs.
