Yes. As per Mr. Jai Bakshi OT is paid for. Ot is voluentary or on request acceptance by employees. Check your company policies for a clear understanding on OT remuneration (Employee Offerletter must read these details)
As per my experience, employee satisfaction and full effeciency during OT is when paid for.

Yes, if you pay the OT, then ESI will be applicable on the paid over time...
But if you amend in your policy that after working for over time of more than 4 hours, then you may give them Compensatory Off..

Dear,
Please keep in mind the overtime limit allowed:
2 hours per day,12 hours per week ,50 hours/quarter year.
Pleaes let me know how you can adjust compensatory off in the above senario.
You can't adjust c/off against the OT becuase OT amount is double than normal.
If it is work against the weekly off then you have to provide c/off alongwitht the OT for whole day with double rate.
Please explain the your conditions in details.

In number of companies ot is paid at single rate only. Now in times of recession ot is adjusted for compensatory off only. Now in our co there is a new policy that ot is allowed for only 48 hrs in a month. We cannot object those things.

It is illegal to give C-off for Over Time work. Employee is ,by law, to be given twice his normal wages for over time work.
The Basic pay and DA should be divided by the number of working days in the month, and the quotient when divided by 8 will give the normal hourly rate of wages.

In our Company, OT is paid and C/off is provided only for working on holidays. It is compulsory to avail this C/off in next three months.
