Dear All,
I have just started my career as an HR into the corporate world. I am working for an IT firm which has around 17 employees. I handle everything here.
Pls guide me as to how to make them follow the rules & regulations of the company. Somebody also please suggest a book which might help me with the same.
I haven't done my further studies in HR, but will be doing it in the coming year.
Pls guide.

Hi Larissa,
COngrates for your job>>>>>>
Firstly tell me whether you have any specific HR policies or not. so that i can help you properly.
For managing employees you have to gain their faith. see that whether they have any specific unsolved problems. if there so then try to solve it. tell me more about your profile.

Dear harshal,
Thanks for your genuine interest.
1. There are no specific HR policies. if you could help me out, it would be great.
2. I have tried my best to solve their problems & would continue doing that.
3. Profile: I am handling recruitment, joining formalities, induction, performance reviews, exit interviews, payroll, attendance, leave management etc as well as the admin. profile.
I also have another query.
we have a small setup. I would want to make my office environment an enjoyable one. suggest some effective measures to do so.

Dear larissa,

Good luck for your career start.

Again I sincerely appreciate you for your words "I would want to make my office environment an enjoyable one"

Then as per the specifications you handle,

Joining Formalities: There are information on to the joining formalities in this forum itself. You shall check with that. It purely depends on to what type of induction program you would have in your organization. If still you have any issues in specific don't hesitate to ping me.
Induction: This comes in the joining formality.
Performance review: This happens periodically (monthly, bi-monthly, quaterly, halfyearly, annually). This purely depends on to your company's management. I can suggest that you shall have bi-monthly performance review. You will get the formats from this forum itself. Just use the search tab.
Exit Interviews. First think about retention strategy rather than exit formalities.
Payroll: I don't understand whether you are looking for a software or ? I shall suggest that you don't need a payroll software for 17 people. Rest is left to your management.
Attendance & Leave management: You shall have a book register for attendance or you shall use some free software for attendance in the web. This would be on a cost effective method. Leaves should be decided by your management for how many leaves falls on the company Calendar. The do check with your state's Shop & commercial establishment act. That will give you a clear picture.

Enjoyable: Give employees flexible working hours, no dress codes, hr games twice a week, employee of the month title, best worker or employee award, gift hampers for dedicated employees, good counseling, employee recognition, lunch or dinner together, monthly outing, half yearly booze together, etc etc.... ;)

Anyway All the Best! :)
