I am in the process of starting an Old Age Home, which has been my dream for serving the needy...
I would request you all to please give a proper guidance as to where to start from and how to go about it....

From India, Bhubaneswar
Very Good Sir,
This is really a good thing. You know the parents give us a lot of affection and the people live them when they really need support. I really admire your step.
Anyways, You have to purchase a building at a peaceful place, may be outer area of the city. (if you did not purchase yet). Simply, You will give an advertisement to the News Papers, and you will found a lot of people will come to you.
Thanks

Hi Karuna! I can give some valuable tips. You need to decide few things upfront before proceeding

a) Decide whether the venture is going to be for commercial/profit reasons or would it be for a non profit reason
b) depending on the answer for above point, you need to work out for raising money for your project.
c) Need to do lots of advt by way of word to mouth, advt in local cable, paper inserts, advt in local newspapers etc depending on the budget.
d) Remember not to base the project funding from initial booking from customers as no one would do this, every one wants to first understand feel and see the facility and the costing before they commit.
e) In case the old age home doesnt have access to hospital with in the premises then need to tie up for
i) local doctors who can do some free consultation within the premises of old age care centre
ii) Tie up with a local hospital to attend any kind of medical emergency and ask for some discounts for senior citizens.

The list is endless. Anyways I wish you all the best.

The tips are quite very good, if you are doing this as social work so it's really nice of you. I can only suggest you to make a different kind of old age home where the members can have fun have their own activities, you should offer medical services along with domestic support.
