Is it necessary that- only the appointing authority can relieve a person from duties on resignation? i.e. if the appointment order is signed and issued by GM-HR, can a DGM-HR/ Manager HR issue a resignation acceptance or service certificate/relieving letter?

Hi Sathya, No, anyone who has the authority to accept a resignation can do the same. If incase the line manager has been authorised to do so, then he can do the same Tx Sherine

Hi, It will be always your reporting manager with concurance of HR can accpet your resignation and issue the relieving/experience letter.

As far as acceptance is concerned, it depends upon heiarchy, and only higher management has the right to relieve an employee in conjugation with the Functional Head.
