Hi Phardeep,

I have seen your thread, you have put the right thing before us. Even i have seen many people in HR who really does not know how to respect the guest/employees. Its becomes more pathetic for the candidates when they are into public dealing. I have been expereiened such kind of bad stuff many times during interview. Sometime they pretend(Interviewer)that they are too busy and behave like we are(candidates) bagger who has come to their door for a job. After completing the interview they say that we will let you know, we are expecting some more candidatea bala bala bala. The situation become more worse when they have already appointed the candidates and doing interview just for formality and the truth behind the mirror is that they want to save themselves from any questioned arisen on their selection criteria in future . Its has become common trend. You should be grateful to GOD that he has saved you in this situation. So my suggestion to you is that take these things lightly and look for other opportunity by doing laughter therapy.

Thanks

Yes Hardeep ... I never deny that the person answering teh calls is actually trying to move away from core responsibility.

I did this mistake in my previous job, where I had asked my assistant to answer calls and schedule seperate time for candidates (freshers). Criteria on phone shortlistign was ONLY the educational background - BE Mech.

After a while two candidates came and met me in person. I asked them why they had to meet me in person, because the procedure was - get appointment/ fix time and then attend interview.

They told me that they called more than 5 times and this lady (my assistant) was not answering them properly. But I appreciated them for taking the efforts to come and meet me, and keep me posted about what happened.

She was busy (infact - really occupied with things other than work). So, what I suggest is in such situations you will have to take a step forwward and go in person. The last thing that would happen is - they telling you that the position is filled. Else they can never deny your request for an appointment.

You cannot correctly gauge the reason and circumstances existing at the other end, which prompted the lady to behave/respond in a particular manner (though in a fashion not appreciable by you). Under such circumstances, I feel it would be prudent on your part to again call back after an acceptable delay in time and get a feedback. Also, you may or may not (depending on your nature and temperament) like to remind her that you were expecting a call from her which never came.
I also have come across such circumstances on numerous occasions, and I on my part have credited it to their poor professionalism!!!!!!!!!!

i guess u cud have just mailed ur CVs to that company...8)..and if the lady doesnt responds there must be other people in the HR...her seniors, etc who cud have been approached for the same..
:icon13:
but at first point u r :shock:definately right that such attitude really discourages the job applicant..:sleep:

I know this has been happening with a lot of companies these days.
First they place an AD for any requirement, then they say that the position has been on hold and then it vanishes.
I dn't understand if this is supposed to be done then why do companies call candidates for interviews and then they waste their time also.
Even the placement consultants need to understand that intially when they call the candidates 10 times for an interview to line up the interview, they should also call back the candidate after the interview is over to give the feedback, the candidate hads to do follow up with them.

Tanya
