I have started working as a consultant and i have my new assignment to start with as a consultant and as a head hunter.
The most difficult part i am facing is how to deal with the receptionists when i want to get connected to somebody of higher level of org.
If i tell them i am a consultant then definately they would not connect me..
Need inputs on this.

Hi Devi
For head hunting you have to be very smart in cold calling and making new stories on the spot. You can say them that you are calling from a training institute and you are organizing a training for SALES/HR/QUALITY(whatever) Managers and you would like to invite them.

hi, you can call at the reception, ask her to transfer in the required department and act as if you are a customer / client. once there the first thing you do is, politely ask whom you are talking to, he/she will definately oblige witha a name and confirm wether you have reached the proper department, next you tell the person that you are calling on behalf of a computer software company and you are holding a product awareness programme next month followed by dinner and would like to enlist name of top level invitees with a maximum number of invitees 3 ( be specific 3) this will add to your authenticity of the call.before ending plolitely ask for thier designations also. do not forget to say thank u.dont haggel too much with your informant - he / she may smell a rat and this may cause problems

Dont lie to them, you will lose ur reputation, tell them u r from such and such recruitment firm and ask politely to connect to the HR dept, u wont face a problem.
