Hi HRs
Last week one of our employee put his resignation and after 2 days, he shown an offer letter to our MD stating that he got new offer in another company and in case we pay them matchingly he will stay back.MD called me and by handing over the offer letter to me ,he said'to match the salary'with an increment.
On seeing the offer letter i got sure that it is a fake one.the reason is that, the CTC mentioned in that offer had elements of employee PF contribution and PT also along with employer pf .
since we know that only employer pf,LTa and Bonus is considered for CTC which is added to Gross pay.
he is backed by a senior person in Fiance team and he has good hand over MD.
dont know what to do
Kindly help hw to handle?>

use you mind somewhat less. And in this case follow the instructions given by your higher authorities. Match the salary along with increment.

I guess you can ask the employee himself if that company was trying to cheat him by adding employer contribution too and show it as ctc.
I guess you are correct, its a fake one.
But look at this - if he is really close to the MD why would he play a game and ask for a hike? He could have directly asked for that hike right?
The best thing you could do is - please tell this to your MD., Ask him to correct you if you are wrong.
Your MD trusts you and believes that you will do a good job. if he really knew what all that in the salary slip meant, he would have checked by himself. he put it across to you trusting that you will do a good job and give the right hike... but if you think something is wrong, there is no harm in you getting it clarified.

there could also be another version to this case, since the emp is a good friend of MD , Finance Head, and might be due to company policy they might not be in position to give increment, so for this always comes special notes, in special note MD will mention that since the emp got better offer we are increasing his CTC so that he does not leave the company,
Even the MD might be knowing about fake payslip,,, and since your friend is HR person he might have directed the work to HR person to match the salary..,,,
you can very softly tell this to the MD that how come employee contribution is included in PF, and see the MDs face, if you see something fishy and MD tells you that offer letter is correct then just do what he says,, dont make big issue out of it,
You must try to match salary as said by your director. DO not envy employee always have soft corner for employee because employees are always exploited and employeer is not doing any charity in India where most of employers are cynical about employee utility and his pay we HR professional must celebrate employee's victory.
I like if employee somehow manage to receive salaries at par with market because there are many more in your organization who are underpaid which are loosers. Why donot try to upgrade them?
Do some good HR practice, Employee will feel more comfortable under your HR leadership.
I am sorry to say this. In our company employers ESI contribution, Bonus, Conveyance given for official purpose is included in CTC.
(ex)If a person salary is 9500, his take home salary will be 7000 or lesser than that.
Good HR policy is always fare to employee.
Best employer must disclose details of package and inform candidates his take home and CTC inclusive of elements of compensations included.
We should not frustrate employees by giving wrong interpretation and confusing policy statements. Then HR become worst.
Yes as Dinesh Said in some organisation this practice done one of my fellow got offer from a firm for accounts the CTC was very high but after deductions the net in hand was very low , i can advise you if you really want to give hike in salary then consider only net in hand components and if your MD or that employee ask to you at that time u explain them this thing just see what increament he is getting in net in hand salary terms ok.
In this way you will be able to follow the instruction of your MD and also u may impress him by your intelligence !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:icon10:

Dear Manikumar,
If you feel there is something fishy, probe it. If you find your doubt was for real, bring it to the notice of the Management. Do not give in and be a rubber stamp. Bringing such thing into Management's notice will only enhance your credibility. Becuase if you let this happen one time, it will happen the next time also, and eventually become a precedent for other employees. Take a firm stand on it once you get a proof. And to get a proof, how about calling up that company, and asking them if they have selected this person?
However, if your doubt turns out to be unfounded, then do what MD wants you to do.
You can check with the company whose offer letter the employee is showing. Please make sure you keep the copy of the offer letter for records.
