If you think intelligence is the key to career progression, then here`s a new flash: good looks with dash of smartness can help people score the job and earn the money they have always dreamed of.
That`s the conclusion of a new research which claims that attractiveness, along with confidence, may help job seekers stand out to employers.
"Little is known about why there are income disparities between the good-looking and the not-so-good-looking," said the study`s lead author, Timothy Judge, PhD, of the University of Florida.
"We`ve found that, even accounting for intelligence, a person`s feeling of self-worth is enhanced by how attractive they are and this, in turn, results in higher pay," she added.
To reach the conclusion, research team analyzed data from the Harvard Study of Health and Life Quality, a national, longitudinal study.
The findings appear in the May issue of the Journal of Applied Psychology, which is published by the American Psychological Association.
The study looked at 191 men and women between the ages of 25 and 75 who were interviewed three times six months apart starting in 1995.
They answered questions about their household income, education and financial stresses and evaluated how happy or disappointed they were with their achievements up to that point.
They completed several intelligence and cognitive tests and had their pictures taken. Several different people on the research team rated each person`s attractiveness relative to their age and gender.

Yes it is true and that can more be confirmed from the type of advertisements we get to see like only female candidates preferred , candidates with a pleasing personality may only apply and so on

I think beauty has various definition.It could be the way you look or the way you carry yourself.There are people who impress you with their ordinary yet smart look.
People with looks use this strategy when they it works to their advantage. But one thing is for sure hard work never fails you.

Beauty can help in success but it can be sole creteria of success. In long term success can not be ensured without good work. Initially there can be benefit in building initial relation but long term only good work pays. Inter personal relation can work and without that we can not achieve success. How we manage this it matters on you

Beauty with brain will always have upper edge. For any job first requiremnt is brain, if you have beauty also then no one beat you.

I agree with the findings of the report. I think this is majorly because people who are good looking are also confident themselves and because they are confident they can build good relationships with the management and hence get recognised, which is most important in current scenarios. And there is nothing new in the report, this is something all of us observe on a day to day basis. Well it’s unfair... but it’s true....
As far as Ravi goes..this statement "what can the HR member give their view" is shocking....because I think that everyone member of this community is a HR person....The question that I have for you ravi is "Are u not HR?"

Confidence in mind comes when their is a mix of knowledge & our own definition of Beauty.
If both are present the confidence level will be high when compared to other who lack beauty or knowledge.
It depends on the person, how carries it. it's all depend on us. If the person is not worrying about the external beauty, he can automatically develops & come up with the inner beauty.
certainly a major role is played by the beauty.
In my terms - if the person has the Charismatic power, he can reach the height.
