Section 21(1):

Penalty: Imprisonment for 3 to 12 months and/or fine : 2K to 5K
the other two sections are subject to Government employees and contravening provisions of the Act.

Hi,
Sacking a person due to maternity is not possible. moreover recession can never be a reason for this. India has already faced 3 severe recessions in the history. This time it is bit big term and the effect is very hard globally. the term " recession " has become the word of the day and is being used to all possible extent by people. So both recession and maternity cannot be a reason for sacking any employee.
