Hi All,

I want all the seniors to participate in this discussion as it will be very helpful for a huge number of freshers and MBA(HR) aspirants.

Q1: What is the difference between a student who has 50% marks and another who have 60% marks?

Q2: If the answe is yes. How?

Q3: Isn't this a kind of discrimination since we all are aware an average student can be more productive than students with higher scores?

Q4: Some people say that most of the HR's prefer to hire students with high scores cause they feel that the rate of success of such students is higher. How far is it true?

I would request all the seniors to come forward and give there valuable inputs as this topic which may not sound important, is very important at this time since average students at this point are finding it very difficult due to the following reasons:

1: There are less jobs and the competition is high.
2: Such students dont even get a chance to prove them self as they are rejected in the first round.

What should these students do? What can they do to build a better career?

As per my survey and observations my findings are:
People who score very high percentages are theoritically very strong because they use lot of memory and analytical skills and fit for intellectual kind of jobs like Analyst, Doctors, Scientist, Mathematicians, Chemist, Structural Engineer, Technocrates, Consultants etc.
People who are midiocre and average are very more practical in life due to their ability to overcome weakness of low memory and lack of theoritical approach to succeed in life their weapon is their ability to survive on the art opportunism as major sterngth, these people are mostly good administrators, businessman and visionary kind of people.

Hi,
I am not agree with thw concept that high scorer are only therotically strong. because my cv and another couple of cv of my friend not shortlisted by cadbury india only because we have 60% throughout. if you check the knowledge and ability of those who shortlisted and compair with us . you will come to know that its not true that all who have 60% are only theroticall strong.
after all..
if a person do not know what the concept then how can he sort it out.
so as a HR we people should not descriminate either of them , we can take a option of open for all.

Hello,
It really doesnt matter. 60% or 50%.
The thing matters is how much the person is more & more productive with his/her sincerity of working. that we can analyze by taking test based on job requirement. & this is what most of the companies are doing even now a days.
Remember, for any particular position, only person with exact qualifications & IQ level will be suitable, neither with higher IQ nor with less IQ. In this way only he/she will be the good productive team player.
Thanks,
Anju

gentleman,
60% and 50% is just number for us,.
What is important is to draw line between attitude of people who are highscoring means who are technically and theoritically perfect and score beyond general scoring pattern for example who score above 90%.
Aand average person scoring 50% to 89% is another catagory.
Sure in that case there will be difference in their ability and trend in imbibing knowledge and their approach in dealing with knowledge.
OK my dear...

If scoring high second class (59%) is not intelligent as first class (60%), how would you treat them? For decades, our education system has basically come around with this sort of preception, so it is difficult to change the view. Schools abroad have a different evaluation that will not match with us.
Marks refer the position and does not exhibit the numerical, physical, analaytical fitness required for a job. These marks are only for academic purpose and we should not rely on that totally.
Conduct a test related to the domain and there would come out the cat. Many would disagree with my view.

Hi all,
For me 50% or 60% is not important.
When I interview, the major emphasis for me is:
Is the person fit to handle the job
Confidence level
Attitude
Will he/she fit into the company etc.
Marks come last on my priority.
One never knows how the marks have been achieved.

Hi,
Being a HR Manager I never go for one's score either its 60 or 50%.
In today's world. We want people who are efficient, good learner and smart workers.
And these qualities doest come with score.
And each company gives trainings to train a person and mould him/her according to the work they want out of them.
So , 50% doesnt matter if a person is hard working but does matter if a person's approach towards his work is not serious.
Thnks,
Vineet Saini

percentage is just an tool to enter into the platform of profession score is important its not true that those who gets 70% are more efficient its attitude how they survive in the competitive world
This percentage business was criteria developed for admission to higher education purpose only. But in field of profession percentage does not work its performance that is being rewarded.
therefore percentage has very little scope to influence professional qualities of individual.
