Dear All !
It has been 7 months running working with my organisation as Dy. Manager - Training & HR. But till now i have nt given any clear responsibilities and the gives ones are not all related to my designation . The routine works i am doing is sending mails for my superiors & filling the formats similar to data entry operator .I am totally dissatisfied with this & am not all getting any returns (satisfaction) out of my work.
This is the second organisation where i have facing the same problem as in the first.
Kindly suggest what can i d o for this ?
Is it advisable to remain this organisation for some more time ?
If i go for job change do my frequent changes affect my career ?
Can i shift my career in some other fields like teaching?

Compensation and policy

You activities in organization has limited utility and repeated task..
But you cannot change your current job profile due to limited scope as per organizational philosophy. May you add some additional job descriptions to your current profile which require similar qualification and skills you possessed.

My advice to you is not to change job at this moment because as you know the market condiction is very bad and you may get into too worse...
Since you're handling HR & Training domain, why don't you take an initiative to role-out a new program or develop a new strategy and run the show. Are you not alllowed to take initiative?
Identify the current requirement of your organization on related to training or hr support and create something new which will boost your energy and morale.

Sometimes it happens so. You have to express your feelings and make your superior understand that this is not the type of job you wanted. Being a manager, you have to be bold enough to address your seniors and management. That doesn't mean you have to engage in a rude behavior.

As you said, it is true that the senior management may not implement all that is required, never do appraisals properly, give little training on routine job skills, never recognise good work, and no motivation or awards or certificates. It has become so as if a HR manager has to accept this as trend.

I understand that you cannot stick on to job for some more time because your boss is not open to new ideas too. At one stage you will feel sick and mentally dejected as to what work you have been doing so far. A satisfied job title without work satisfaction.

Better look out for a better job and leave at the earliest. In resumes, many candidates show a short stay, obviously for reasons mentioned by you.

The joke is we HR at the interview ask them the reasons. If he speaks the truth, we stamp him as 'unable to get along with the boss'. If he blames himself, we stamp again as ' bad attitude and no comittment to work'.

"Don't spend time just working & being busy.You will always complain about dissatisfaction.Instead put little bit of efforts, Plan & organize yor life.You will realize that you have time for enjoying & everything"

Sometimes it happens, you should have to handle this very carefully, first you have to check whether you only having all these problems in your company or others in the HR also treated like this....If so then you have to look for another job, that also not now in this recession period, you have to plan for a good move.
And you have to analysis whether your company really doing core HR activities....
And also you should evaluate yourself whether you are really good in doing HR practices as an asst.manager... your company may be expecting an outstanding performance from you....First analysis all those things and take a good decision...

Hello Jaya,

Since your seniors are not encouraging with the new ideas or initiatives, then it's good to divert your mind be occupied in some other activities and make yourself busy.

As you know the current market situation is very bad and if you get a right job then you can always look at as a chance and take steps.

Let me tell astrology about you:

There are people with different character's and i guess you're a hardworker and always look for new assignment, challenges and new work coming to you.... Am i right?

It never happens in all the work place so it's good you need to be occupied completely and have self satisfaction.

Simple solution:

1. Breakdown the job. (write down completely in an excel sheet)
2. Ask questions in terms which job interests you or what learnings that you got?
3. Develop a new idea (Work out a strategy and change your style of work which will interests you)
4. Apply the new method. (Try to sell your new ideas with people and boss, watch for changes)

I am sure doing this exercise definetly there should be some changes and also try to look at on each subject what new that you can bring to yourself.

As suggested by chandrashekar, express your thoughts, feelings, emotions. We can give only alternate solutions but actually you're in the work place and you know more about the work situations, so you're the better person to take a right decision.

Try to provide us some more details so that we can try to look at alternate solutions.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for your kind advices.
I ve informed about my unsatified job profile to my but its of no use. He asked me to work for projects department where again i am getting mail corresponding job. Actually i look for accounting jobs and my major problem is no retuns out of my work. They are trying to engage me throughout the day only for correponding jobs.I feel i am surplus to my organisation. If everybody is allocated with responsibilities, i am not be required. They are in the notion that HR department will have no work throughout the month. I am fed up with the work.
