Dear Seniors,
I am presently working as HR Administrator in a small software company. I have 1.6 yrs of experience in HR Field. from my experience about 80% I am successful in learning new industry practices and implementing the same. Now I am seeking advice from you all seniors in the area of HR Behavior and emotions which can maintain for the smooth functioning of the works in the company.
I am very much interested to know the dos and don't's in terms of behavior from the part of HR towards management and towards employees.
I hope Seniors can advice me from your experiences and practices.

Emotion is subjective term and vary personal. As HR professional you need not to know what your staff is eating and drinking every day or whether he is in the best of mood and sprit to check his emotional out break on any issue.
This is psychological issue and behaviural issue of individual. Person to person people are diverst personality its nature gift. People do not change their inherited behaviour and natural reaction to any incidents.
HR only can do is to be neutral and impartial in dealing with Human Resource without giving employee to express his personal feelings because its left for his wife and parents to share with.

Dear Rashidmusa,
I am of the opinion that the intention of Soja Oliver is to learn the basics of HR approach in dealing with the emotions of the individuals.
I am sure many of us deal HR issues through the lense of emotions only but handle these through procedures or rules and regulations. It is the empathy which is the essence of understanding the issues or human side of the issue. There are several organisations which have a dedicated member to handle the issues pertaining to the individuals problems not related to work or company.
I am of the view we may have to share our knowledge more on case to case basis. Please bear with me for my transparent expression.

I like your followint coment;

This is true and HR has limitation in handling emotional and behavioural issues. If we respect our employee's as well as their privecy thigs will be under control. In my company people are mentally and physically fit they never exhibits emotions day to day basis except some interpersonal relations leading to personality clash or ego problem but we have maintain HOD level intervention to deal with such issues professionally.

Hear person out. Their grievance is what they come to HR for maximum time. Try to be a mix of professional and an empathic person to them. Be nice, polite, friendly to them at all levels. Try to sole their proble. Revert on time. If their is a delay , do keep them informed on the developments. Try giving timlines for things.

I believe people will resort to emotional outburst when something hits them realy hard.
As an HR person I believe, you should try and mix with people and get to knwo their likes and dislikes, level of their openess regarding discssion on certain issues etc. If you are succesfully able to find out wht 'not' to say or how 'not' to say somthing to a particuilar person, you might be able to steer safely, without hurting anyone.
For ex: a guy very touchy on personal issues to an extent that he does not like to discuss his family at all. Then just a casual inquiry like how are ur kids may invite an outburst. So know your people first and then try relate to them the way they want to. But as Sayali has suggested, draw limits and respect anyone only to an extent that they respect you back and not take you for granted.

A comment to Mr. Rashid.
I strongly believe that to an extent HR officials have responsible role in keeping emotions of employees to satisfied level . An HR Must Understand employees emotions at all situations and can achieve with years of experience in mingling with various levels of people. In connection with this, I asked the first question of how can be the HR person manage various levels of People. I have understood the ways from above other postings.
