Gunjan :
Sorry that it happened to you. Yet, ethical or unethical, you are expected to abide the code of conduct of the organisation. And almost all organisations expect the employees not to use the Company id for personal use. Now that the damage has been done, I would suggest that you work on to improve your 'image' in the eyes of your superiors, as long as you continue working over there.
To be or Not to be in the present organisation should be a matter of your choice. You need to introspect what weighs you down.. Psychology or practicality.. I know, you have been in this 'stale mate' position for quite sometime now.. As many have suggested, keep your cool, be confident and work on relentlessly to move on to a better career.
All the best.. that's all I could say, presently.

Dear Gujnun,
I think we should belive on GOD and i think now it will be better for you to leave this organization as now they can not trust on you even you do 200%.
So, being a friend i would suggest that be positive and trust on GOD and ask from GOD rather any one.
With best wishes,
Jay

Hi Gunjan,
Looks like it is a family run organization. I will suggest market has good opportunities for u. So get into looking out for the right kind of profile for u. Since job profile finally leads to job satisfaction. But mean time stick around since being on job will easily get u another job.

Hi!
As long as the management do not have time for their employees, they cannot grow. As u said, ur problem would not matter to them, what is the point in keeping ur cool? Take the issue to them by requesting them politely, present it before them and give them time. Pls do not insist them to solve ur issue.....see how serious it is for them to keep u happy in their organization.
Take ur time and keenly notice the things around. Note all those instances which made u feel ignored. After all, what matters to u is ur career. When ur interest lies in HR, why compromise doing something totally irrelevant?
Meanwhile, u could let me know ur experience, what was ur role....i guess it would be better if u can gimme ur yahoo id so that we can chat before I put ur profile forward to any of my clients.
The decision is still ur's. U can think and let me know.

Hi Gunjan,
I think that there is no use working for a company where u have no respect, people dont appreciate your efforts and rather they point you out that you are not committed.
As you said that even your top management can not help you or put it that they dont want to help you.
Do you think that you are really going in a right direction in your career?
See when things are not working out and you are under going mental stress you would not be able to perform well.
So better leave the job and Look out for another(If you dont have any committments)
Otherwise just start looking out now and then leave
And please dont make the mistake again

Richa

Hi Gunjan,

For what have you written seems like you are working in a "FAMILY RUN BOOT CAMP " :) Anyways that was a light one.

Frankly speaking members have already put across what actually can be done in this situation so I won't be suggesting something new but still cant help myself putting across my opnion ...........

See What I strongly feel that both the mgmt & u did wrong. You used the office infrastructure for personal use & the mgmt while going a step furthur "keeping a check on thier employees mail " (Now thats what I call ridiculous, but obviously you can't hold it against mgmt ) & to be candid I have seen so many people using their official infrastructure for job prospects but "You are not "WRONG" until you are not "CAUGHT" 8)

I agree to a certain extent that probably Co. can have some measures to make sure that the code of Conduct should be maintained so that some important/ confidential data shouldnot be deported out the compnay but checking every mail i find absurd ....

Anyways be that as it may be ...... Now its you who have to take a Final call coz frankly speaking I am not too sure if you stand a second chance out there from what ever you are telling. Probably at the surface they might show you that everything had been given a pass but from inside they still might be holding it against you ..........

So Ponder on a few points & then take a final call :

A) Given the fact that they have not given you the role what they promised earlier & neither they are showing any signs that they will give you that kind of role in future would you like to stay with them (From what you told I dont see it coming )

B) That distrust which has already popped up between them, which they are not letting brush off easily how much would you like it

More importantly :

C) Keeping this aside whatever happnd think for while do you think is this the place you would like to stay on for the next 5 years doing the work

&

D) Is this the kind of "janta" with whom you can work 8-9 hours a day & you find yourself comfortable & comaptible with ?

Take a call on all of this & then make a final decision (I am not even sure but probably you already would have made decision by now, as I am posting this late :) as u already have the right inputs from members )

One more thing I am not sure whether you have that much Family or any other kind of responsibilities on you or not as it plays a very vital role in making a job decision. If Yes / Not whatever , there are a ample of opportunities out in the market. Sooner either you will find a right opportunity or a right opportunity will find you

Dear Gunjan,

The first thing I feel is that you had made a wrong choice, because a Company which does not have a HR Dept, indicates that is not interested in HR and does not value the Profession. This is further confirmed by the choice of HR Manager. All they wanted was an Executive Assistant and the rest was nothing but dangling of carrot in front of you to make you accept the offer. So, I feel you will never be in HR in your Company unless there is a change in the attitude of the top management.

The other thing I feel is that if you are not getting any HR related experience even if you work for 3 years, it will never be counted as an experience in HR in big companies. You will be treated as fresher.

Now, the incident about looking at personal emails and sending CVs further prove that the Company is not interested in any HR. They simply donot want you as HR, but is intended to keep you as you are.

In the end, let me tell you, change the job as fast as possible, the most delay you do,, difficult it would become to get another job.

Tell me something why dont you shift to a BPO / Call Centre work for a year and go for an internal transfer. While recruiting these Companies always stresses on the flexibility of changing within they offer. Once you get into HR, then you can lookfor the Companies of your choice.

Dear Gunjan,

I feel you made the mistake of accepting the offer. First when a Company donot have a separate HR, it implies they are not interested in one and doe not give it that much importance( unless, it is a start up or very small Organisation). This attitude is further confirmed by choice of the HR Manager.

What I feel is that they donot want a HR and neither is interested in giving you one. Further they have no intention of giving you that opportunity. The Company wants you to remain as you are. This is indicated by the email incident you have mentioned. Just think, when anyone catches anothe employee, we try to find out why he is looking for a change and take necessary actions if possible. Yes, we do issue warnings but our intention is never to go after the employee but to make necessary changes to provide for better atmosphere and opportunities. We donot ask the employee to resign unless it involves moral turpitude, violation of laws of the land or intentional gross professional misconduct with an objective of harming the interests of the Organisation or if the employee intentionally disregards the values of the Organisations.

Finally, I think if you are not getting any HR related experience there is no point in sticking because it will not be counted as valid experience in HR. The best thing to do is to shift to Industries which allow cross functional transfers like Call Centres, BPOs, where you can enter as a Customer Care excutive work for a year ( or as is required for transfer) and shift to HR. Once in HR, then you get try for the industry you want to be in.

The faster you make the move the better.
