Dear all

I am feeling frusted :icon7:about my job.

I am MBA-Hr ,with 6 months Exp in Hr.

I am working in Automobile service industry, working since from last 3

Months,I have started feeling Tense and frusted with the job.

I am doing Payroll,ESI/PF,Grievance hadelling,Disciplinary action and

everything that emplyer thinks is HR related.

Company have 300 employees and I am only person in Hr dept.

Most of the employees are 10th passed or less.

There are issues like Leave encashment,Late cutting,

Over time and other salary related issues.

We dont have policy for leave encashment, late cutting,

or O.T. or other salary issues.

This Month there was Lots of Angry, heated discussion between

employees and me.

I generally keep my cool ,but this month I have started losing my temper.

And I was also Active participant in the Heated arguments .

NOw if employee ask me anything like slary doubts or whats happening in

Hr I feel angry and I behave rude .

My employer is giving me more responsibilities and demanding more

from me .

Recentely Employer gave me feedback that

1. I should be punctual on work as I

come 10 or 15 Minutes late to work,( I work 9:15am to 8:30pm feel exhausted after the days work)

2. I should take more Initiative and be

3. more active.

I am trying to improve on these areas but Feeling frusted

I am even doubting if I have chosen Wrong field.

Because Employer has his own agenda to hide information from employees,

Make late salary payments, not deciding salary of new entrants on time,

And delaying most of the HR ralated issues.

I feel that other Dept .Have there work which does not dissatisfy

employee as the HR dept does,Blame is aways on HR dept.

I am not able to understand what is happening to me as Hr professional .

chill out Pratap...frustrations are normal human nature..no worries..its only you who can help yourself in ur situations.just relax and be calm.Dont be in a hurry.the best thing is to be quiet n have patience(only then u can figure out what is actually bothering you) is it either ur profession or personal life thats troubling you.but believe time will heal be it the either.its just how you react.

Since its recession...Let time go by...if its your new job thats bothering you then dont worry this is common to evrybody.try to find out what exactly that you wished from this job and what have u ended up in(sometimes our perception also depends).then if ur boss has given u negative performance comment analyse if its fair or not.if not sit down with ur manager and speak with him calmly what made u to come late.If u r overloaded speak with him if there are any options if u can have an assistant.or how it can be worked out.its jus 3months so discussing with manager is a good thing(u know this actually works out-continual meeting with manager is always healthy they feel good that they are being approached and sought by you and shows how interested u are-but be polite n put things in a positive way)

maybe, you need a break from work take a day or two off from work and do what you have been longing to do.talk to ur friends, family members relax.this will help you to ease out with ur co-workers.If anybody tries to start a heated conversation to you/boss try hard to remain silent or look into their eyes and say i will get back to you with the answer.. hurry back to your desk.open a word doc/notepad etc and start typing whatever u wanted to felt lik sayin to him.then dont save it ..mimnimize it n jus do smethn drink water/sing blah blah ..now maximize it n go thru it it would sound funny..by then u will be relaxed and go back to him n try answer him positively.

hey, i know working for 13/14hrs is really stressed.so eat healthy n have a sound sleep.it mite help.

try all these it mite sound draggy but this what can be done by letting things happen its way and watching it calmly to make it happen for us next time.U will then find wys of how different ways u can go about ur work.also get in touch with ppl in automobile industry like urs.it mite help...guess what u mite even discover that they are also feeling the same:mrgreen:..so u can have ideas..

Dear Pratap,

Being a Fresher in the field of HR you maybe are not able to handle so much pressure, that is the main reason that is making you feel frustrated.

Firstly, you are only working in an organization whose manpower strength is 300,if you cannot handle that then later in other bigger Organizations, you will be getting more frustrated as the Manpower strenght & pressure will be more.So try to get youself prepared for that now itself.

Secondly, the work u are currently doing is pure HR & Admin Job & if you dont enjoy doing that then i am sorry to tell you that u dont fit in this Role.

Thirdly, being a fresher yu must appreciate your Boss for giving you such a good career break so fast,as he as provided u the right platform to learn & explore various areas of HR.

If you feel that no policies exist in your Organization then it is for you as an HR person to Frame such policies.

If you need any help in doing so we all our their to guide you.

I dont feel that you need to loose your temper for such reasons specified by you, also i feel that you are disturbed in your personal life for which you are blaming your professional life for that,so i request you to kindly validate what is bothering you so much, take a break & then start working fresh with the right mind set.

If you need any help you can mail me on:-elvira_parkinson@yahoo.com

Pratap...

Nothing comes easy in life. Please clearly read this loud - you are not frustrated with the JOB, you just need to take control of things going on. U have finished college and now u r into work... and this gives u the freedom to take control of things and ur life.

I understand u had posted earlier on "Employees bothering u with a lot of questions"
There I had asked u to take a reverse look at it - "Employees are confused..."

I know that u have reached heights of being frustrated.. and that is why u just broke out. Relax - I was like this.
Used to work for long hours and feel exhausted and still get no appreciation. Over the period of time I learnt that it was not in being overly dedicated... or putting in additional time that helped. Its all in "How we analyze the situation and take it ONE at a time a finish the task". U r just into the industry and u need to realize that - everything cannot be done in a single day. Go one by one.

First and foremost :Please spend a weekend - only for urself. Be selfish... unwind urself. Be in the place u love the most (even if that mean a Cafe Corner! / home / or just take ur bike and go for a SAFE drive)

This is because u need some time for urself to relax, and understand that THERE IS MORE TO LIFE! Work is just a part of it. Dont dip urself too much into the work part... (as a fresher even I did this... I thought WORK was eating my life.. But It was me who exaggerated it)

Second:

U know there are issues around. Ur employer wants to be proactive (this is the key - being pro active)
Take a little authority on ur side and implement policies (work on it sometime at home when u r free... and u really have good things around u happening -say music??)
Policies related to late coming, ot, discipilnary... all the HR related part
There are certain things that is STNDARD for any employee. Make a manual for all these "standards" and keep copies of these in each dept (make sure u do have an orientation too)
- this avoids unnecessary interuptions that can help save ur time

I feel bad abt the time part - is it that work is between 9:00 to 8:30? I doubt... Again it must be that u r working really hard. DONT DO IT!
Just work within the specified hours and on exceptional cases u can stay back for 30 minutes or so...

Frustrations happen with everyone. Its just that it also happened to u.. U seem to be avoiding urself. Why dont u pamper urself for a day or two (week end). U will get back with fresh energy. Ur employer has seen the potential in u and probably prefers u to contribute more. I would say - contribute more by reducing unnecessary work. for which I mentioned that u can make ur tasks easier by putting notes on notice board for certain issues that everyone must be aware of. If anything has to be communicated to many of them..send an email and also follow-up with a discussion immediately and finish the communication part. Be strict in what u have mentioned...no re considerations for anyone.

Its in the way u carry it out things will be fine.

If u are looking frustrated - 10 people will come to u to suggest ways of improving. (one like ur boss)
If u smile and look cheerful - people around will also look cheerful and understand ur role. this is what makes a part of an HR professional.

HR is a very delicate area. There are lot of things that need to handled with care. Ur employer may have a delay in making salary payments, its in the way u communicate to the employees that will make the difference. Its not just ur company, these flaws are there everywhere at least once in a while.

U can also conduct some motivational/ training sessions to keep the atmosphere good. Moving forward...once u have tackled all this (esp ur frustration), if work is really getting on u, u could ask ur employer if u culd hire an assistant / at least on temporary. (Just an option - u may or may not chose to...)

And whether u have chose the right path or not, I can only tell u this - It takes to be an HR professional. You will not have people around u praising u, u need to be self motivated, and ur job is to make sure others are motivated too! ;-)

Chill...and - U REALLY NEED SOME TIME FOR URSELF.

I am usually awake only between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM... I mean I work only between those hours.. other wise.. the time is all mine. I am selfish with that. I need to...Cos I know, I am worth it. (Except that in these last few weeks I am a bit addicted to citehr...need to reconsider my login time :-(

Wow Pratap,
I should say you are lucky.
I wish I had at least ONE person to advise me SO IMPARTIALLY when I was taking the knocks of life-career & personal.

I don't think I can add more to what Kavita, Asha, Elvira & others have said, except putting things in a clearer perspective to YOUR situation.

I know practicing whatever is being said by so many of your friends on CiteHR is much more difficult than their words-- but bear in mind THERE IS NO OTHER WAY, i.e. if you want to progress. Except that you could do it @ your own pace & methods.....that's all you have in your control.

We spoke just now. Pl. feel free to call me when you are free. Life comprises of it's UPs & DOWNs--that's the fact of life. All that is in YOUR hands is: learning HOW TO HANDLE THEM......that's all. And i am sure you can do it...with so many friends out here to guide you. BUT IT'S YOU WHO NEEDS TO TAKE THE STEPS--something like the parent TEACHING the child how to walk, but it's the kid who has to do the ACTUAL walking.

All the BEST,
TS

Dear Ravi,
Honestly, when I saw your response to Pratap the other day and I suggested you NOT to say such things, I had a feeling you DID have similar issues.
Suggest mail to me on
Whatever I wrote to Pratap just now--as also what Asha, Kavita & others wrote-- apply to ALL OF US, including those who wrote, me & you. It's only a matter of how we HANDLE situations......for the situations aren't in our control, but the way we CAN RESPOND [not react, mind you-there's a hell of a difference between the two] is the only thing that's in our hands. And our response is a result of how we LOOK @ THE SITUATION, followed by what & how we THINK/ANALYSE of the situation...then follows the response. Meditation works out the best to handle if such situations get worse...but more of it later.

Hi,
Do your work sincerely and take things positively. Infact you are getting good base to start your career as it seems you are setting up HR dept. which was not there before. Working late hours is not a problem, as you are investing in yourself to get rewards later. Be positive and calm and all will be fine once you get set in your career.
