I agree with the discussion interviews actually this process makes it far more consistent while selecting the right candidate coz of one simple reason and that is once the interviewee is comfortable the replies that come by are far better than the other situation wen the interviewee is nervous and does not speak about key skills at times and gets rejected even with enough potential.
The discussions are far better for the other reason i.e. if the interviewer/interviewee are smart enough they can pull the discussion toward their own needs in this both are benefited coz the interviewee can show his field of interest where as the interviewer can understand the demands of the interviewee as well as the demands of the position where recruitment is being don :-)
