Man is a social animal and so every employee.First let us plan for a holistic approach ie., focussing in the overall development of the employees ,their families and their surroundings and then commuity as whole.
We should always remember "to help a person to help himself".As a chinese adage reads" It is better to teach a person fishing than give him a fish everyday."
Adopting a Town/villages and working towards overall sustained development by means of providing education, health, environment, infrastructure, vocati onal employment ie., inclusive growth.Let us see whether our corporates are paying due tax to the govenment and abide by the pollution norms, whether employing child labour.
We may also do Blood donation, help NGO,s who are working for the cause, help employee families by way of counselling

Hello Padmaja,
First & foremost what is the motive for getting this idea?
Now don't get me wrong......CSR is not something that we go to a movie once a while and forget about it until the next year-though there could be such avenues too. Unless you are looking @ CSR as a tax-saving scheme.
I suggest that your company first make out an internal review of what & in which areas you can contribute. Then go about looking for opportunities to cater to such core strengths of yours'. That will be the best way. For eg., doctor camps--regular mind you, not once a year--may be good for pharma companies...so on & so forth.
In a way, a SWOT analysis of your organisation is what I am suggesting-except that here it will be the skills that aren't used within the company. I did that for my company and since 2005 we are supporting kids in the areas we are best at.

Hi,
You can also think of organising any activity for NGO kids.
Like taking them for a half day outing in any Zoo/Snake Park/Aquarium.
Or else to any Summer Camp.
This will increase knowledge of kids and will refresh them with good memories.

Uadsul's idea is good...especially with the summer vacation coming.
I remember we arranged a star gazing session for kids with a tie-up with the local Astronomy Society in May, 2006 to watch a unique 5 planets visibility situation in the sky [it was there in the news all over @ that time].

Hello Padmaja,
This is Prajaktta. I am working on CSR project at my company. Its been 6 months that we have started the project with lot of brainstorming.
One aspect I can suggest you that...donating something to a needy organization is just not enough. As a responsible corporate citizen we need to ensure that our help is really reaching to the needy people. There are 'n' number of target groups where you can devote your time, efforts as well as funds. But I really feel that we should see that it is reaching to them.
one more aspect you can think on....start with individuals...that is, at a time you can start with a small group of say students from deprived area, orphans, patients, you can educate women from deprived area about health & hygiene, u can even work for students from municipal corporation school...they have loads of dreams but just donno how to go about them...
lot of such things can be worked out...keep us updated about your program...All the best!
Best wishes,
Prajaktta
