Hi Frends,
If I claim Medical Reimbursement, I have to produce medical bills for that, right.
Please tell me, in whose names these bills can be; i.e. me, my wife, Parents..??
I had recently given bills, which were in names of my father, my mother and me; but accounts manager has rejected that claim saying that I can submit bills of my name only.. (is it logical?)
While in mediclaim policy, they have included names of all my family members (father, mother & wife)..
Please give your valuable suggestions.

Medi claim policy is different from medical expenses reimbursement by the company. The former is an arrangement by Insurers and the contract is between employee and the Insurers in which company has no role. Perhaps, if the company bears the whole or part of policy premia of employees, to that extent only employer is involved in it. Still, the beneficiary is employee direct. On the other hand, medical expenses reimbursement is a part of employee benefit and often a part of compensation payable to employee or the so called CTC. Depending upon the contract of employment, it may have a wider interpretation to include spouse, children and parents who are fully defendant of employee. However, unless otherwise provided it shall mean reimbursement of expenses incurred in connection with employee's treatment only. If free lunch is provided, it does not mean that lunch is to be given to all the members of the family of the employee. Similarly free accommodation may be single or shred accommodation but if you are provided with family quarters, it should be specifically stated as 'family accommodation'. However, in case of medical reimbursement, just for a defence we can argue that bills should mean bills in respect of all members of family. But I do not think it will work. Regards, Madhu.T.K
