Hi,
I am a trainer and pure operations person. I support a team of 21. I lately feel that there is some negative energy creeping thru the team because of a few people. They are as usual not the top performers. My managers are extremely helpful to me. The extra effort that we show in their learning is not understood, however, criticized. Please help me in understanding their thoughts and help them in a better way....
Thank You

Hi
This might not be fully applicable but try applying your training session midway ( informal feedback) . You can try the KIRKPATRICK MODEL for that ..
Try identifying watz the cause of discontent for those particular handful of people ..it might be the external environment , the infrastructure rather than the course contents/technical matter...
See if a proper TNA (Training Need Analysis ) has been done for those people and if there is a gap in that ( as in do those people fit into the training sample space - are they under/over qualified )
Would like to discuss more ...

hello Lavanya,

Basically human beings are good. However, as you refered in your post, some people behave differently. They may be right in their angle.

1. First of all, people working under one roof need to frame their behaviuour towards organisation. Try to find out what make them to behave differently. Perhaps the reasons could be internal or external.

2. Talk to them freely without bias in the mind.

3. Through your talk, convey them a feeling that you are working for them also.

4.If the reasons are internal...then collect their feelings, suggestions, criticism.

5. Work out with your boss in this regard. and i am sure you may get some sort of solid base for this.

6. If the reasons are external...then only option you have with you is to discuss, and try to make them to understand the problem and help them to come out from those.

7. Use differnt kind of motivation and ensure that your techniques reaches them.

8. Allow them to really enjoy free dom and ensure that they focus on their work without fail.

9. Show them very clear signal that, unless other wise they mould their behaviour, they will be treated with the help of RULE and not by LOVE.

Hi Lavanya
First try to find out why the employee are behaving in such a manner
They are not the top performers, but why they are not the top performers
Remember they are working in a team. So the team should be a top performer and not individuals. Is it that some members of the team are being appreciated more? It is a team effort. Are some members walking away with all the compliments and accolades? Or are some members being "social loafer", being aloof from the team. Are their opinions taken into account before coming to a decision? Are they treated at par in the team? Is the team really a team? Try to find out the reason behind their actions.
regards
