hi everyone,
i need help really bad, i just got employed in an construction company dealing with big contracts for supplying generator power to different companies. it had over 100 employees, am the head of human resources. i have found out the company does not have even a single hr policy, regulations, even company structure! the authority follows from the owner to the employees. no one follows anything and people keep on being terminated everyday.
i want to change things, am taking it as brand new company which need hr assistant. kindly advice how should i state to change things because even employees have negative attitude towards work as they steal, not come to work, stay idol, etc

I really empathise with your situation.
First clarify whether your company is into selling power [from a generating station] or selling power generators[to generating stations]--both are different, as you know.
Either way, first talk to the management/owner and see to what extent will he/she be WILLING to listen to your suggestions/advice & support you. A lot of your next steps will depend on this aspect. If this response is NOT very encouraging, frankly maybe it would be wise to make a switch yourself.
Be realistic--whatever be your intent, if the owner doesn't back your efforts, you are wasting your time...and career too, I guess.

I agree with TS, first you analyse frame some basic HR policies and take it to your owner and discuss with him in implementing the same if you got his support go ahead and prove your self

thank you all for your support, .... the company deals with selling big generator to telecommunication companies who need then for network towers to supply power since electricity is not reliable in Tanzania. they supply generator and also fuel them, not only to telecommunication but also to big buildings like hotels and offices.
the company is family owned, i think they want change that is why they employ me but i don't think they are ready yet as i even wrote some policies for them to read but no reply up to now, they not willing to make change in some departments as every time they complain about money however not to me.
for my party i want to create an impact to this company, therefore i need your help on how i can convinced them to change, where i can start. and how did you guys started when you were in my situation.
