I am working on my industry based research project. Topic is why HR department in the organization?
I have 2 practical example means 2 companies in one co. is well established and earning profit but no HR department. Another co. where employees are feeling unsecured and high rate of employee leaving.
So why HR is important ? what is the role of HR.

Hey Naved
Imagine if you have to handle all the work of the HR department as well as get business for your organization...Do you think that would be easy? To let employees work well we have the HR department ...
You might be aware that it is usually a centralized function. Now , if an employeee has a grievance, will the CEO resolve it? I bet no.. So he has to put it to some people who are assumed to be specialists in HR...
These may be just some of the many reasons for having an HR department!!! But , the department must be a functional one and not just a dummy:)

hi all...
One thing I can say is HR dept works as a Facilitator..
As rightly sed by Pinks, there are many Hr activities tht other managers cud also perform.. But if they start performing HR activities, they wud not be able to give in their 100% to the Activities they are responsible for..
A maintenance manager can also recruit or develop competencies if given some training, but is he meant to do dis ??
An HR specialist is a some1 who knows when to use which HR tool.. Sometimes Intensive training is required to develop a person and sometimes just counseling wud suffice.. Only a HR specialist can know this..

Hi Naveed,
HR Department is a very strong foundation of every organization. The issues dealt by the HR may look minor but if they are not solved they could hamper the efficient working of the company. So, HR professionals are required to handle the front end so that the rest of the Managers could focus on strategic movement of the company. One could reach the goals only if the foundation is strong & the foundation of any organisation are teir assets i.e: the people. To keep them motivated is the biggest challenge throughout which is delat excellently by the HR.
Regards,
Pooja
