please help with the content for a presentation by the hr team in the annual meet. i am working with a warehousing company and this is the first time i will be doing a presentation in the organisation and i am only 1 month old to this firm.
the meet is on 24th January


For annual meet the data as HR you must present

Present HR strength, Human capital required to perform the task annually, New recruitment done in this year, cost of recruitment, ROI .

Employee turnover, grievance handling.

Future requirement (coming year), how to fill the position (internal or external), Trg and development activities, Cost attached to T&D, Return on T&D,

Organizational Development intervention (if any) viz managing change with respect to change in technology, how managing stress on workforce due to global crisis.

Any other development in terms of labour laws, new policy of govt, new policy of company itself.

There are "n" number of things you can include, If you can tell me the time alloted to you probably I can help you in arranging the order of your presentation.

Remember one thing while talking talk in terms of Human Capital involved because business understands only money.

the time alloted to HR team is 45 min. which includes presentation by a pay roll person and a person who is dealing with the statutory part.
our organisation is client driven, we do warehousing for industries like telecomm, retail sector etc, we have many clients and we work on a pan India basis.
could you help what hr practices should be there at the ware houses.

Well can you give me some details of what you have done in last one month time. just write whatever you remember doing. dont concentrate on sentences or its chronological sequence. just write what ever comes to your mind. I will post you my comments on the same with in 12 hrs of your post.
Think in terms of some griveance handling or some change management.

thanks a lot for the extended help.
we have warehouses across india and i am at the corporate office in Navi mumbai.

1. in the last 1 month i have stream lined the process of stationery for the corporate office as well as one warehouse to whom the stationery is supplied from the corporate office. i have made one sop for this and introduced two formats one for internal requirement and the other for purchase from vendor.

2. there was one meeting and i took the minutes of the meeting and have mailed them across. no mom were taken at the meetings held at the corporate office.

3. i have defined the attendance system specifing the late mark, early leaving, half day, also a swipe card system will be installed on the 21st jan.

4. initiated for iso certification and the organisation has gone for it. we have asked the consultant to give a brief in the meeting, this will be first initiated at the corporate office and one warehouse first and them we will roll it to the other warehouses in a phased manner.

5. initiated to make the vission and mission and our md is going unveil it in the meeting at the end.

6. we have started employing on contractual basis and i have made the appointment letter for the same.

7. we started another company for manpower staffing (outsourcing) and i would be responsible for this project ie to bring new clients as it is related to hr.

8. i am in a process to prepare a sop for appointments and resignation

After seeing the list I feel its futile for me to help you. You have done a commendable job in last one month and I am sure you can easily handle the presentation as you have worked on ground. Well still for the sake of it I am giving outline you can use for your presentation.

Attendance - earlier system in one line and how new system will help u contain the disciplinary problems incl new attendance system (swipe)
Appointments - System how it will curtail the negative reference checks of new joiners, how to check the validity of experience shown by the joiners.
Resignation - Proper exit interviews how it helped or it helps in maintaining the alumni (since the new concept says that not only the educational institutes have them but also companies because keeping such alumni association of earlier employees help company grow in the world of networks.)

what you have gained in terms of money (probably finance dept will be of help to you)

Expansion of business.
staffing- what strategy you are planning and how it can help your core business (warehousing). Remember what ever you do it needs to be on your core competency. your success depends upon what core competency of ware housing business you use for your new business of manpower staffing. just relate it. ok

ISO Certification
How it will help your business gain clients trust in comparison to your competitors. What you are doing to get it as far as HR related issues are concerned must be with the environment you give to your employees(work life related issues).

For an Annual meet presentation on HR, first try to understand your companies Business Goals for this Year. derive your Key Result Areas from that.T he major areas will be focused on

* Operational Deliverables- Recruitment No., No. of Training days, On time Payroll delivery

* Process Deliverables- Improving Recruitment Process Effectiveness, Using new Training Delivery methodology, bring new incentive system

* Specific HR Initiatives- Productivity Improvement, Inter departmental coordination, Employee HR Interaction

All the above should be Business driven and focused on Organization Vision and Values. Try to give more on Quantitative figures. Your KRA's should be SMART formula.

Sourabh and Shiva have given very good tips on contents. I am sure you must have prepared the first draft. Few tips on compiling the information. Since the total time is 45 minutes, to be divided into three presenters, check on how much time you will get. For presentation of 15 minutes. No. of slides should not be more than 10.
Since you have joined recently, you lwoul ike to introduce yourself and what are you responsible for in HR. Than talk about what have been achieved in past one month, its, effect and going forward what's being proposed. Please do add on some employee interactive initiatives. It will open channel of communication and feedback for more effectiveness.
