For Overseas Working You Have To Be Specialist And Certified HR Professional From Respective Country Specially In The Western Countries Indian Certification Not Given Weightages.
Sofar As HR Practices Are Concern Yes There Is Fundamental Difference In Approach That Is Scientific Approach And Market Driven Parameters Are HR Indicators In The West.
In The Middle East Mostly HR Of West Follows For Specialist Jobs In Comprehensive Compensation Architecture Different From Indian Practices. Often Soft Skills Are Same But Hardcore Specialist Jobs Dealing With Manpower Planning, Compensation, Succession Plan Are Wider Gap. Because Of Population Size In India And West As Well As Middle East Where Shortage Of Skills Are Always Find Demand For Certain Jobs.
In India Its Surplus Manpower And Certification Therefore Man Management, Compensation And Competancy Management Has More Or Less Secondary Issues For The Business Compare To West Or Middle East.

Where ever human engagement is needed HR is also required. There may be difference in procedures and practices of HR. Depending upon the number of employees and their attitude, the functions of HR and the pain to be taken to implement the rules will differ. This is true even within India. The preference that an HR manager gets in a particular firm may be different from that he gets from another firm. Therefore, it is advised to work according to the situation and work culture of the respective organisation.

The present recession will last only for three or four months. During recession many companies have reduced workers. Once the economy starts improving, there will be recruitment and selection to fill up the positions. The HR will have a tight schedule then also. Therefore, the scope of HR will increase only. After all, Hr covers all the three- shrishti, sthiti and samharam ( creation, retaining and destroying). It is required for recruitment and selection. it is needed for maintaining or retaining and it is for retrenching!!!

WoW Madhu!!!!!!!!! Great explanation and ur right. I work as Hr Generalist is Middle east. I do not find much diff between working in India & here except for salary structre as here there is no tax deduction. Alos the fact is here we deal with employees from diff nationalitly unlike India. So intially little learning is required to understand their wavelength and then once thats on we can keep going. Afterall HR is all about building relationships first.

I am quite sure the with your building relationship kind of HR function its doesnot matter whether you work in Middle-East of Far-East countries because inside such small scale companies HR hardly matters.
We are discussing HR practices in the global companies and major business houses with scale of professional HR know-how. Because these are HR processes with world class management concept practices only visible in such companies who engaged largest workforce and for that they engaged mostly western HR professionals in the Middle East. For Example All Airlines in Midle east, FMCG companies, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, etc follow western HR model and I am sure you are not engaged in these companies.
