Yes Shweta, I very well understand your position since 5 months ago even I faced the same situation. That was my 1st job and I was designated as Manager - HR but used to do assistant kind a job. There was no policy in the organization neither the management was flexible for adopting new policies. I was working as if I am a data entry operator. But then I took the decision to change my job for a low salary compared to what I used to draw in that particular Company. I took this decision when I came to know that the current company HR job profile was excellent. And now I am satisfied that I have got a good profile in the starting of my career. It was only 6 months when I left that job. In the current company I am designated as Manager- HR. I have implemented many HR policies & procedures. I feel good about the job profile, the culture, the collegues in my recent company. At the same time I feel low when I compare my salary to the previous company. :(
But in your case I would suggest that do not leave your organization because the market condition as you know is very poor and so must u stick to it but once you get a good job profile in a reputed company please shift to the other job without hesitating.
My friends in citehr would help you out in a more better way by their suggestions ....:icon1:

At least u r working in a company .I can understand ur problem but in these troubled times leaving job is no more a option.I am working in a consultancy in banglore where there is limited opening and thousands are ready to apply and I would always look for such opening as a welcome change.
You can change to other company or get promoted in coming days but al i would say always

DEAR SWETA

ITS REALLY STRANGE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A JOB CHANGE JUST BECAUSE YOU COULD NOT FIND ORGANISED PROCEDURES IN YOUR COMPANY.

I DON'T KNOW WHICK KIND OF MANAGERIAL JOB APPLICATION YOU ARE CONSIDERING, BUT STRONGLY FEEL THAT "YOU GOT AN OPPORTUNITY WHICH WILL PROVIDE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND ESTABLISH MUCH MORE THAN AN MOST EXPERIENCED MANAGER CAN GET."

YOU CAN DEVELOP YOUR OWN POLICIES, TECHNIQUES TOWARDS MAINTAINING THE HR ACTIVITIES IN YOUR PRESENT ORGANISATION.

AS YOU ARE IN A STEEL COMPANY, THE HANDLING OF MANPOWER IN A STEEL COMPANY IS REALLY A TOUGH JOB, THOUGH DUE TO RECESSION, THERE MAY NOT BE MUCH OPPORTUNITIES, BUT WITHIN NEXT FEW MONTHS TIME, THE ENTIRE PICTURE WILL CHANGE AND YOU WILL BE AT THE TOPMOST POSITION.

IF YOU ARE GETTING YOUR SALARY IN TIME; IF YOU ARE HAVING FLEXIBILITY AT WORK; IF YOU COULD DEVELOP YOUR OWN STRATAGY FOR RECRUITMENT AS WELL AS OTHER HR ACTIVITIES THEN IT IS REALLY GREAT.

SO I CONCLUDE AS "" JUST TRY TO UTILISE YOUR STRENGTHS WITH THE CURRENT ORGANISATION "" -- YOU WILL BECOME MORE STRONG IN THE FIELD. DON'T EVEN THINK FOR JOB CHANGE..

ALL THE BEST.

I am surprised! Infact people are looking for opportunity to implement their new ideas, and you are just trying to be a part of the unorganised situation of the company!!
In my opinion, you should not quit the organisation right now. Being an HR person you should develop the HR policies and systems for the company.. You can approach your MD and open up your ideas, recruit someone to assist you in developing a system for the company. Within an year you will see the change and will be surprised of the appreciation you get from the Management.
Try it!!
Best of luck

Hi Sweta. I agree with Deepamba. Its easy to advise but to get things thing in practice are sometimes tuff. Even I joined a startup company and it requires lot of efforts to get new things in place but this is the right time where you can prove yourself as a Manager and once you stay and implement new things your role will automatically be justified plus you will gain lots of experience. Convicing the senior managment require some tacts - for that you can take feedback from employees, talk to them for new ideas to implement and after you do something new take a feedback from everone and once you senior team gains confidence in you then you can start initiatives like policy implementation and performance appraisal system.
All the best. :)

Guys,
I don’t feel that its not the time to change……Every time you apply for a change there is a risk involved in that ..and so for the current situation. its just that you are jumping to conclusion in advance without facing the actual world….things no doubt are bad that does not mean that sun is not going to come out or stars wont come in the sky ..its just that you take a calculated risk, measures the pros and cons, and be careful while choosing something and do more of research work and then arrive at a decision…who says this the market is bad….yes for some I agree and for some its not …my friend who was struggling in the peak and when the companies were desperate to gets people on board was unable to find the job ..but now as u guys says its recession you wont find a job he has been able to find a good job in a multinational company…..infact for him it’s the best time for a job…..Its your perception and your experience that makes the environment good and bad …..PLS DON’T SAY MARKET IS BAD OR POOR, IF YOU CAN GET A GOOD BREAK ITS NOT A RECESSION BUT AT LEAST MAKE AN EFFORT FIRST …..FOR ALL ITS WONT BE GOOD AND FOR ALL IT WONT BE BAD…..ITS WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT….THE ONLY DIFFERENCE I SEE IS THE TIME..FOR SOME IT TAKES FEW DAYS AND FOR SOME IT WOULD BE MONTHS TO GET A JOB DEPENDING UPON THE SECTOR AND YOUR SPECIALISATION

Hi shweta...
My sympathy with you...
My quest to others...what HR shud do when management is not willing to change or ammend or modify anything..they expect HR deptt to show sm results but when there is a need to put ur time or money whr ur mouth is...they simply ignore it till the point wen u loose ur interest in aproaching them...
What one shud do in such scenario...ok..leaving job is nt the solution bt what if thr is no solution lying with ur present job too (atleast frm career point f view)....
I hope i will get some gd suggestion on this...
Thanks
Rashmi
