Hi,

I am a seasoned HR professional and I firmly believe that there is not much difference between HR and marketing field except marketing professionals being more flamboyant. The “Guru Mantra” to be a successful marketing/HR professional is same i.e. “Customer Delight”. Also from my perspective the skills required in both these profession are common i.e. communication skills, listening skills, client management skills, being emphatic, research oriented, and skills to manage client’s/employee’s expectations.

HR folk mainly deal with internal customers (employees) and marketing folk’s deal with external customers (clients).

I hope this helps.

Good Luck!!

Hi Phukki,
No one can answer this question unless they know you. Atleast your detailed resume and only then anyone can help you with the answer, because you have to give a reason based on your experience you had come across.
I personally feel three years is not a big deal when you shift your domain. Moreover as rahulPHR said Marketing and HR are not very distinct. They have their own similarities.
Give some more details so that some seniors here can give you an apt answer for it.

Hii All..
I am having 3years of experience in direct sales in two leading private banks of India.I totally agree with Rahul about the fact that HR and Marketing both having a close similarity. For HR folks customer are the employees amd for sales folks customers are outside clients.Don't u think that there is a vast difference between these two types of customers? The folks in direct sales are actually generating the revenue for the company and thus at the end of the month our bank accounts gets credited.Customers for the HR folks are actually working for the same organization thus the moto remains the same whereas for the outbound sales guys its the open market. So how come both the profiles can have a similarity?I too want to switch my profile to HR personnel. So plz suggest me how to proceed.Good luck!!!
