Hi seniors,
I need your views on this...I'm working in a small IT company as a HR Generalist from last 2 years. Now I've got an offer in a car-dealership company. Would this change from IT sector to auto sector be good for me? I was desperately looking for a change, as my current company is very small and I can't see any growth prospects.
Please guide me as I'm confused...
Thanks,
Madhura

HI Madhura,
Some information is required from you for answering your query.
Whats a job profile in your new company? How big it is? Whats a employee strenghth in new company? The success of change in job will depend upon the work you will get to do in a new company. So kindly give some more info about your new company.
Regards,
Harshad

Hi Harshad,
The new company has a strength of 200+. My profile will be of generalist nature only where I'll be reporting to CEO. The new offer is lucrative, but my only concern is of domain change..from IT to auto..is this a wise decision?
Thanks,
Madhura

Hi Madhura,
Basically the HR is required in any industry. So even if you change from IT to Auto, and after say 1 or 2 years if you get a chance to go in better IT company , you can always jump. Basics of HR remains the same, the application and implementation will differ from one industry to another. If the offer is good , and you can learn and give something more then, take the new offer.
If you don't want to change IT, then apply for good IT company, because generally thet prefer same industry experience only.
So All the best.
Regards,
Harshad

What We Are Suppose To Advise:?:
This Is Choice Of Individual What Preference And Test You Have In Life :-p
Its Not Advisable Subject Because You Have To Reverse Gear To Return With Same It May Take Decades To Change Sector:-d

Its recommended that any change in job from one industry to another should be based on economic conditions prevailing at the macro level of a country as well as within the respective industry.
A logical approach is to see what are the requirements of HR in each industry and how long will that industry survive, especially in current conditions.
Its my understanding that change in job from industries open to frequent fluctuations in business to stabler environments is desirable.
Eg: IT to BT is better and even better is IT to Bio Research Cum Production based firms.
Do some industry research before jumping jobs. Thats a correct approach.
