Hi Pallavi,

You can start one by one...

Viz : studying the Human resource base
Manpower planning
Create personnel files & details of employees
(department wise ......circulation ,reporting, advt dept etc etc)
Study the Statutory part like PF,ESI files and status,
Study the leave structure and prepare register.
Study the shifts ,OT,incentives given.(especially in case of reporters as
they work odd hours)
Returns to be submitted,
You can prepare a format of salary and wage administration, increaments due list, completion dates of tentures
Recruitment rate
Attriation rate
Exit interview formats can be prepared .
Welfare aminites provided and are required to be provided as per the act ,
Start with employee participation programme like weekly meetings etc
You can keep one suggestion box
Start with wishing on birthdays of each and every employee .

The list is not ending .....

hope this is of any help to you.

if more doubts on legal part etc you can call me i will tell you as i have worked in newspaper industry.

Hi,
You can send a reminder to the employees asking for the documents. Tell them the importance of submitting the documents in time, especially in cases like ESI, we need to submit all documents within ten days of joining. Educate them.
If they are not listening to you again, then any disciplinary action can be taken like holding the salary till they give them or something like that.
Best wishes

Hi pallavi
you can number the reminder as first ,second and so on.
secondly what ever you do the copy of it you send to your employer/head/cheif .which will bring pressure on the employees.
you can call for a small meeting in the presence of your head and make him talk of the HR matters
