Dear Riya Sharma,
After Nidhi's 'dhaam-dhoom' intro post, I searched if you really got a reply. Oops... all were eager to exchange IDs and contact details. I am here to answer your query.
The working hours per week has to be 48 hours (excluding breaks) 9am-1pm, 2-6pm or whatever timing your company follows. But the TN Shop/Estbl. Act says that it is the discretion of the company to extend the work hours per week on need basis. So late sittings are allowed but very few companies pay OT.
Hope it satisfies your query. You are in which state and follow which Shop/Estb. Act?

Dear all,
Am also an Management (HR) Post Graduate as well as an Advocate practising at Chennai on civil/consumer/criminal/labour/writs issues. my email id mobile : 9840592607.
At times there are several areas in which we need somebody's guidance. My suggestion is why not we (HR&Legal practitioners) move together to citelegal.com ?
As labour rules differ state to state, we can segregate them under a particular (i.e., state) column and post our comments/queries.
Thanks.
