Hi all,
I am good-bad-sometimes worst at multi tasking. Is it advisable to do multitasking at desk though not getting paid for. What does `multi tasking ` include,
1. Is it the work other than specified in appointment letter or
2. Is it an interest based!!?
3. Is it person centric!?
4. Is it an addiction?
5. Can we demand for the extra payment/ letter shows to help and assist all employees at office - does it convey this multi tasking!?
6. Please suggest me any book reading on this multi tasking...
please suggest..
regards,

Hi Durga,

Today being a competitive world, it is important for every individual to be good at multi tasking. It is a trait, which adds on to your skills, & one needs to develop it in order to prove oneself.
We cannot demand for extra pay or we cannot expect it to be one of the main crieterias in the offer letter as it always goes with the package.

Multi tasking as such comes with practice. So if you are good at it, practice more to be the best!

Always remember SMART work is better recognized than HARD work.

Good luck!

Dear Mr. Durgaprasad

Season Greetings

Multitasking, involves in every round of both professional as well as personal life. In professional terms, I would like to add that during my carrier, I was allotted with 4 different projects from all different clients. It were from- Airbus, Forex, Ferrari, Indian Railways. Since, 3 of them were in the international assignments, I was nightmare for me to handle the all 4 projects at a time. But, you have proper planning along with the support of your seniors and team members you can achieve the same. I would like add that, I along with my team finished the Projects in record time and were appreciated from both Google and clients.

Here, I would like to say again, that Multitasking is a weapon used to test your potential to sustain in the professional or Personal life. The great explain for multitasking which I really appreciate the most, give the example to all is Mother. You too can analyze the same and revert me for the same.

Good luck for your multitasking activity and we are always to share your thoughts, keep me your valuable thoughts, if you are in trouble during the multitasking activity.

As Sparky pointed out, multi-tasking has been shown to not be very productive. There is a some recent literature on this which you can find by doing a search. While it might help the ego for a while, in most cases it might not be advantageous.
