Hi All, Greetings, I need help.Currently I got my salary hike for the current year. The hike was announced in the month of Feb 2008 stated that it will effected after the completion of joining date to the company i.e in the month of sep 2008..My friend informed me that the labor law states that from April till sep I should be getting arrears i.e. the difference between the hiked salary and the one received.I asked my HR but he rejected stating that there is no such rule we can give hike any time and mention it will be effected on completion of date of joining. Please help. Regards, Jeev

Jeev, You are not clear in ur query. Let me explain u from what i have understood. You said u had an hike in ur salary.. was it oral or written?? if it is written then they would have mentioned the date from which the hike would be effective. Go and talk to ur HR keeping the letter as a proof and ask for the arrears. If it was just announced then i think there is no proof of hike from which date it is effective. Maximum u can do is talk to ur HR and request u to give ur arrears. Whenever HR announces about hike in ur salary first thing is get it in written. Else there would not be any proof to defend urself.

Dear Increase in salary shall be effective from the date mentioned in the letter of increase in salary even if the letter is given in April but clearly stating that the increase will be effective Sept, than you will get only from Sept and not from Apr ak malhotra
