Thanks to all of you for all your sugesstions and advice. I feel I need to show my work too, in front of the director and also in front of others in the organisation, and not just keep working heads down.. additional work is not a prob...but that must be compensated adequately too in terms of monetary gains as well as recognition for a job well done..isn't it?

This is not the right atmosphere to grow on a long term. I would suggest, you should slowly tru to pull out from this place and go up in the carrer ladder in a conducive place. Do not quit immediately. Look for better opportunities and say bye bye.

Two Things:
You are getting all the opportunity in the world to learn on-the-job with a free hand. the positive side of the story is that you do not have much interference.
If you don't like it find a better opportunity and till you succeed enjoy your current situation.
