hi,
this is very much in terms with strategic management. HRM in an organization is reviewed with the overall strategic plan of the organization. this also includes a SWOT for HR as well. If in an organization HR audit is practiced this would greatly help the SHRM part.
since i am a sri lankan an unaware of which organizations in your country is practicing this.

Not just for HRM, but for any other management also, you have 3 levels of operations,
Technical
Tactical
Strategic
Strategic is the highest level of the management and essentially deals with planning and decision making.
Planning is for Innovation and betterment, where as,
Decision making is for the Middle and Lower management.
Few most important parts contributing to strategic HRM are job designing, Competency mapping, Employee engagement, Evolution of leadership skills in the organisation and many more.
If you are doing a project on SHRM then, I think you are asked to concentrate more on the overview of the 2 basic parts of SHRM as I said earlier. If that is not the case, try to narrow down the topic and do more research on a part of SHRM.
For any assistance, regarding your project mail me at
