I am working on my summer project currently and there are two aspects to my project:
(1) To conduct a competency based Job analysis and write Job descriptions based on it. Compare it with the available/current Job Descriptions and perform Gap Analysis to make recommendations.
(2) To design a competency mapping framework for the organisation.
The organisation has five vertical marketing channels and there are salespersons and field engineers out there selling computers and providing services to clients. I would like to know how to identify the competencies essential for the employees to align with the objectives of the organisation; how to measure these competencies for different leves of jobs and how to present the data and results obtained from it in the form of a competency Map. In short, I want to know EVERYTHING about Competency Mapping. If you could suggest books I could read, websites I could visit and resources/tools (freeware) I could make use of, that would be of immense help.

You could choose a topic from OB (Motivation theories, EQ etc) or a topic from HRM (Recruitment, attrition, staffing, training, compensation and benefits, HRIS etc) or topics like Knowledge Management, Talent Management, Competency Mapping, Stress and Counselling, Reward Management, Performance Appraisals etc.
