I just want to know is it by law not to hire doctors in pharma companies in india?? I have come to know about it and I want to confirm it from some authentic source! because here in our country its a common practice to hire doctors as product managers etc!
I am working as a HR in a Pharmaceutical org.
we appoint Doctors in Indian Pharmaceutical Organizations for preparing Medical Windows (Information) to Other Doctors and give suggestions to Marketing people in sale, how to approach to Doctors and chemist giving medical presentations to Marketing people and helping new marketing people in training etc.
we have one Sr. Doctors in our company.
Yes in India Pharma companies do hire MBBS doctors as product Managers, Medical Cordinators, Training Managers etc, even there are people who are MBBS and done MBA and are working in Indian Pharma industry. there are companies like Astra, Cipla, Dr Reddys, Cadilla etc
If we talk more specifically then Indian pharma industry (Ethical product promotion) utilises Doctors to extend the product ,a proper medical justification like, technical references, indications(clinical usage), product positioning in terms of customers (Doctors), dosage schedules, USPs (Unique selling pepositions etc.) etc.etc..
Doctors act as medical consultant where the product managment department (PMD) co-ordinates with these medical consultant to evolve a marketing strategy, depending upon the stage of the product life cycle of a product with respect to the current market scenario of compan'y product portfolio.
