ok here is mine.
i wanted to be a chef in 5* or 7* hotel. Thats y i wanted to do BHM(Bachelor in hotel management),My childhood dream.
But when i gave up my CET in karnataka i got Engg rank very huge...say16000 but i thought pure science would be one option and wanted to make a career in physics. But when we had an event in 2005 as international year of physics to commemorate Albert Einstein papers in 1905, i was a student convener for the entire college, after which faculties, management acclaimed.
So i thought y not choose a field with people and start loving people and so did my MBA(HR) and hunting for the job rite now.

Hi Everyone,

I am Thiagarajan.S from Chennai working as HR executive in BPO. I have 1.5 years of experience in HR. Really i take this opportunity to thank all the members in CITE HR. Cite hr made me to grow my career in HR. All my doubts and mistakes are got clarified only through cite hr.

Strictly speaking in my childhood i dont ve any ambition. Relly i dunno what i choose also. In my schooling days i am dull head student with good in extra carricular activities.Even i failed in ninth and i studied one more year. Everyone worried what am going to be in future. But somehow i managed till tenth. Then in 12 th i know my responsibility so i worked hard and got 95%. When i was in my B.com final year i got placed in Accenture company. At that time only i saw HR proffesionals. Really i admired lot by thier way of speech, taking decisions , Interviewing style. so i revoke that offer and started taking my MBA in B school with specializatiopn in Marketing & HR.

Once i finished my MBA i started my First job in HR consultancy with 6k as my salary. Every one started telling me fool for working for 6k. But i never thought of salary. I enjoyed working there by learning different concept in recruitment etc...

Once i gained experience there i moved on to BPO. Here am working as HR generalist. even now am getting 14k as my salary. I made my company well and organized one only because of Cite hr. Here i learned all concepts in HR from Recruitment, traing, payroll,Performance, HR policy ETC.. My friends are getting 30k. they asked me to join with them. But i am not interesteed because i love my HR profession very much. It gives me recognization and am sole responsible for organizaton goal. HR is the one where we want to be more creative and handle things in right way which everyone cant posses this.

Really i ve great passion towards HR. i love my HR very much and even now am learning more concepts in HR and shapping myself. Really this Cite hr is my boost for my carrer. Thanks for all seniors and juniors who helped me.

Really thanks for going through my thread. I want to share my experience with everyone and this is my first thread am posting. If there is anything i need to correct please suggest me.

In my childhood i wantd to join Army and applied for it as well but rejected. . . :$
When i started my MBA i was confused about specialization but during the course of "Principles of Management" my teacher inspired me very much, he was an HR professional with a rich experience of domestic and international HR and then i decided to come into this field and from last four years I am enjoying this profession and wants to excel my career in it.

Hi ... I loved reading the previous responses and I am glad that atleast we HR Professionals are being honest to each other!
In my case I specialized HR during MBA because I thought this is one way where I can dress well, sit in an AC Office all day and will get paid to behave well with employees and take important decisions ! I sincerely felt life was a bed of roses for HR Professionals.. but after I joined my 1st job ( I am still at it, with 1.5 years work exp) , all my dreams got shattered ! After being harrassed by angry employees, and almost getting mobbed by Factory workmen, not to mention relentless mental abuse by ALL the employees and the scapegoat of disastrous Management decisions, trust me - I am back to the REAL WORLD !
But still at the end of the day, if anyone asks me, whether I had taken a wrong decision by rejecting Fin and taking up HR, I still would say I am glad that I made this choice ! :-)

mine is quite different case.
please follow the following very patiently

1. While I was in VIII standard, I want to become an engineer and want to opt Composite mathematics.( At that time in Andhra Pradesh there is Composite Maths - Engineering Group / General Maths - for Science Group) Parents said no. I was forced to take General Maths.
2. While I was in Intermediate, I want to become a Charted Accountant and want to opt for Commerce. Some forces said no. I was forced to take Science Group.
3. I gave Medical entrance, but could not select in Medicine.
4. No choice ------------- joined in B Sc with BZC.
5. want to go fore M Sc in other states,But not.
6. Not to stop my academic career, I joined in LAW, entirely a different line that too in English medium.
( Please note that till completion of graduation my medium of instruction id my mother tongue)
7. Completed Law and enrolled as an advocate and I was allowed to practice for 5 years in HIgh Court and other Lower Courts.
8. I joined with a news paper industry as Law Officer and was with them for a quite long period.
9. As of academic interest I did my PG Dip. in PM & IR while I was with news Paper Industry.
10. During that time, I was thinking that if we win the case credit goes to advocate on record, though the ground work from us and unfortunately if we lost the case, blame the Law Officer for the failure.
11. then I thought why can't I choose HR as my Profession with having basic qualification.
12 Then I transformed into a HR Professional and handled different positions in News Paper Industry.
13. Then I joined with a Sugar Industry as Manager -Personnel And Administration for a change.
14. And now in a third different industry i.e., Cement as Manager -HR with a challenge.

WHY I OPT HR AS PROFESSION IS BECAUSE I LOVE MY PROFESSION AND I ENJOY MY JOB.

I ONLY BELIEVE IN:

DON'T LEARN TO LIVE
BUT LIVE TO LEARN.

How do you feel about my academic and professional graph.
thank you for patient reading.

regards

Re: What Forced you to choose career in HR?
Hiiiiiiiiii
I had no such particular dreams in childhood that I would bcome an engr or a doctor. On the other hand no one forced me to choose a career in HR as well.
Fate let me to Pune as my Father had a transferable job.
During my graduation days I started working Part time in Administration Dept in a small pvt comp. This was the driving force in my career to do something more in the same field and then I took up for a masters degree in HR and here I am today with 4yrs experience in HR with a reputed Software Company.
Today I enjoy being a part of the HR field!!!!!!!!!!!!!
