I think the success of IPL has definitely raised certain issues.
1. The amount of money involved in it. There is a clear bias towards cricket. Other games whether indoor or outdoor do not get the same privilege as cricket.
2. IPL T20 has commercialized the game. Now cricket is played for money and not as a sport any more.
3. There are lot of unfair practices which run along with the game.
4. Sure enough, IPL has brought forth some splendid players who otherwise would never have had the opportunity to show their talent.
5. The positive side of commercialization is, if the players do not perform, then there is always the possibility of getting sacked from the team. Thus money has been linked with the performance. This means there can not be anything like poor form or good form of the player. They have to be best performer or else leave the team.

Dear Friends ,
I feel that there were a few factors that made IPL such a success:-
Our winning the World Cup
Defeating Australia in the T20-20
Glamour
Packaging
The Newness of the event
The thrash they are spewing out in the form of TV serials and a sudden drying up of good movies
Timing.

We have been discussing quite a lot on the business model & the reasons behind its success. We should also be discussing on feasibility & scalability of this model. Also,is this model sustainable?
One thing that seems peculiar is that the favouritism is clearly evident. If we see an Indian hitting most normal fours/sixes,there's a huge round of applause. However, imagine the situation when we see any non-Indian hitting remarkable shots/bowling extraordinarily....are we actually that elated??
Sustainability : One point, yes, that can be debated. Will test matches go into oblivion? Are 20-20 preferred over 1 dayers??

We learn a lot from IPL, mostly from S WARN, he is motivating a new / week team to be a winner in this series. As far as popularity is concern Kolkata Knight Rider has won, becouse of ganguly & khan, But as a manager i woulk ranked no : one S. WARN, no: two MSD.
Vijay malya / Preety / Wadia / Ambani/ has very big loss due to poor managment of their team & lack of motivation and offcource their knowlage regarding cricket and interest. they have just invest their money and relaxed.

In my view IPL is a new way of making money through cricket. Its just an beginning of an new era..its just a miniature of Various Premier leagues in Football...
Its surely going to change the trend of Cricket.

i was just wondering, will this IPL matches have any negative effect on our Indian team wen they play for our nation? Will this lead to a split? Hope the unity in diversity remains. wen there was a fight between sreeshanth and harbhajan, i really started thinking about that..regards,SreePillai

Change is the essence of life. I would relate this to bring in the change to avoid monotonous. Earlier we had One day, test matches, world cup. Rather its to renew the interest of the audiance which give them enjoyment and investors a good ROI. I saw many people around who lost the interest because of the cricket fixing, they were also enjoying this game this time. There are many the things to learn from the this 20-20 and also from the teams specially Rajasthan- Shen's captainship.

Dear Members
IPL was/is indeed a fantastic business model envisioned and realised by the guy called Lalit Modi................You could read the latest issue of
India Today and that gives a complete information on how this entertainment
packaged business model became a thumping success.
Cheers,
