If the number is a matter you should seriously think about it because the work involved will be prone to cancer and you should take action to prevent it.
During treatment you can not expect the workers to attend duty and it will take time. In order to avoid production loss you may engage workers temporarily. When the employee(s)return you can terminate them.

Madhu.T.K said : Compensation, intimation etc on lay off and retrenchment will depend upon the employee strength and if you have 100 or more employees, you should take permission from the department before initiating lay off or retrenchment. In case you employ less than 50 only, you cannot lay off and if laid off you will have to pay full wages. moreover, lay off is only a temporary arrangement If you want to terminate the employees forever, you can do so but following section 25F of the ID Act, ie, informing/ taking approval from the govt, paying retrenchment compensation at the rate of 15 days pay for every completed year of service and notice pay or notice. Compensation is in addition to gratuity if the employee has served for at least five years

    How r u!

As our plant operations r not active, management is decided to send the employees. In that case, they are three Options - (1) Lay Off (2) Retrenchment and (3)Serve Notice Period (as per appointment order).

May I know how to proceed the above. When it is to be announced?. 1 Or 2 above, 60 days prior intimation is required to give it to the concerned Labour Department.Am I Correct? if in that aspect when we have to announce to the employees, is it after receiving approval from the Labour Department ? How many days labour department takes to give approval. And what are the eligible benefits to be given to the employees in 1 and 2 opions above.

    Request you to clarify me.

    Awaitng your reply.
