"World Hello Day happens every year on Nov. 21. The founders of World Hello Day ask that everyone in the world say hello to ten people during the day.

Say hello to strangers on the street, people in the elevator, store clerks, or anyone who makes eye contact. The message of World Hello Day is simply to open the lines of communication between people. Social courtesies like saying hello are sometimes lacking in modern life, especially in cities, so this is one way to remind people to be courteous to each other.

By saying hello for one day, people may be inspired to say hello more often. Before long, neighborhoods and communities are talking more and people are connecting.

The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is organizing an HR summit on the theme ‘Current and Future State of HR: Decisions and Directions’ on 21st Nov,2009 at its Noida Campus. The event coincides with the silver jubilee year of the inception of the institute back in 1984. The summit is being organized by the institute to promote the role HR function plays in the success of an Organization. The event is being actively supported by ONGC as sponsor and People Matters as a print media partner.

The summit would consist of two separate panel discussions on the topics ‘Role of HR in Corporate Governance’ and ‘HR Outsourcing – a source of Competitive Advantage?’ The objective of the former is to emphasize the role of HR in today’s world of Corporate Governance. The discussion would focus on the business processes, techniques of HR that can aid an organization in achieving Corporate Governance. The objective of the second session is to explore opportunities in outsourcing HR function to third party firms. Although ‘HR Outsourcing’ seems like the latest buzzword in the realm of HR domain, the panel’s seasoned experts shall debate on whether it is a source of a competitive advantage to firms.
