seeking your advise
i am a 2007 engineering graduate.(IT) from PICT.presently working with tata consultancy services since the last 4 months. (as a researcher in analytics). i have also been teaching as a visiting faculty in one of the leading mba coaching institutes for the last 8 months.
i have consistently been an academic topper. throughout 10th,12th(CBSE)(92%),BE(distinction).
i would want to know if it is advisable for me to switch my career from IT towards sales/marketing.the reason for the same is that even though i am good at my work and have a reputed organization to work with(TCS),i do not find technical work passionaite enough. i would wish to work where i truely enjoy every moment of it. i am a very passionaite and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills. also would reputed organizations consider a motivated individual like me for a marketing/sales post since my qualification goes against the same. (the biggest disadvantage for me)
i intend to pursue my mba from the top management institutes in the next 2 years.
requesting your valuable advise on the same.

to add::-
i had given cat 07 and had a good percentile 95.i have been waiting to get into the iims therefore did not apply to the other good institutes. i am confident enough and willing to wait for my mba.but i wish to work where i feel my energies and strengths are harnessed. also i wish to learn as much as i can about the business aspects before i do my mba.

Hi Anubhav,

I think you should go with your heart and complete your MBA as you see there many are oppurtunities around. Also when you complete your MBA there will rather be more opputunities and also enchanced ones. I think you continue what job you are doing right now untill you get admitted in your education. Complete that and then paln for the career ahead.

thanks anurag,
do you have an idea if i can get a chance to convey my desires and ambitions across to reputed organizations.since most of the reputed companies would not consider an engineering graduate for a managerial work.
thanks and regards.

hi
Hi Anubhav,

I am training Placement officer for Madurai Kamaraj University, your thinking is correct but dont wait too long there are lot many managment schools which are good not necessary that u have to join iims.

You can also go to,
IIPM,
SYMBIOSIS. OR other institutions In the present scenerio MBA'S ARE hot cakes selling. So it is better not ot delay the process. All The Best.

With Regards,
Viraja
