India To Growth At 8.6%
Indian industry will grow at 8.3-8.6 percent in 2008-09, driven by robust corporate performance, says K.V. Kamath, who took over as the new president of the confederation of industry (CII) Thursday.

"Corporate India is growing at a pace not seen in the country's history. Our economy should grow at over eight percent despite constraints," Kamath said in his maiden press conference as the industry lobby's president.

According to him, some $700 billion worth of investments were in the pipeline for India Inc - half in manufacturing and the remaining in infrastructure.

"There is no cutting back on that," said Kamath, who is also the chief executive of ICICI Bank. "The share of manufacturing in India's gross domestic product will go up to 25 percent by 2020 from 15 percent now."

Dear Cite HR Members,

I am working in a Manufacturing company in Mumbai in the HR Dept. Presently have a query regarding the leaves taken by our employees. We work on 1st and 3rd Saturdays in a month whereas 2nd and 4th Saturdays are non working days. Our employees club their holidays during 2nd and 4th Saturdays.

Following is the query

1st Query

E.g. If an employee takes a leave on 11th April'08, Friday Till 21st April, Monday how can the leaves be computed;keeping into consideration that 2nd & 4th Saturdays are non working days. How many leaves can be computed during that period of time

2nd Query

E.g. If an employee takes a leave on 25th April'08, Friday keeping into consideration that 26th April, Saturday is a Non working day and rejoins on 29th April'08, Tuesday how many days leaves can be computed during that period.

Would be grateful if i could get some guidance from all Cite HR members

Best Regards,
Deep

Dear Deep[

I would refrain myself from answering to your question, not because I do not wish to but because I would like to guide you to the expert on the same,I would like to request you to contact Katyana broad moderator of compensation and benefit.

If there is any query in regards to policy or strategy then let me, the above problem can be tackled if a slight change made in the leave policy of the company

But still I would advise you to talk to the person above

Thank you
Octavious
