Please help me understand the various types of leaves - like CL, PL, Sick leave that exist in an organisation.
Also let me know their purpose and how and when they can be used.

I hope ur purpose will be solve: -
1) CASUAL LEAVE: 5 Days, subject to the conditions
i) Will be taken with prior permission, except in emergency
ii) ˝ day can be availed of a maximum of 5 times per calendar year.
iii) Cannot be accumulated.
iv) Cannot be encashed.
v) Cannot be clubbed with any other kind of leave.
vi) Cannot be allowed for more than 2 days at a time, except of emergent reasons.
2) SICK LEAVE: 8 Days subject to the conditions
i) No half day will be allowed.
ii) For more than 2 days at a time, Doctor’s certificate is required.
iii) Can be accumulated up to 40 days.
3) MAINTENANCE LEAVE: 5 Days
In a year when Maintenance is conducted – those are not required for maintenance work will be required to go on Maintenance Leave for such number of days of maintenance subject to maximum of 5 days – those who are required to do maintenance work will be allowed to take Maintenance Leave in one lot before 31st March of the following year.
4) EARNED LEAVE: Calculated at the rate of 1 day for every 20 days actual working subject to the conditions:
i) Minimum attendance of 240 days in the calendar year including days of all paid leave enjoyed during the period.
ii) Can be availed to a maximum of 6 times in a calendar year.
iii) No half day will be permissible.
iv) Can be carried over to next year up to a maximum of 30 days.
v) It should be planned well in line with prior sanction.
sir, pl. give me details and how the employee are eligible for cl,pl, sl. for 1 year.
and el is compulsory or not when doing the settlement, and to be paid every year at which month or carried over.
please explain in details with which section.

Leave structure differs from company to company. Most companies put 8 SL, 8 CL and 16 PL. And it is been paid at pro-rata basis.. means if its 8 number of leaves in a year then after 3 months one will be eligible for only 2 SL and same with other types of leaves.. Moreover if Leave calender is from January to December and someone joins in April then for the calender year he will be eligible for only 6 CL, SL and 12 PL.
Out of these 3 types of leaves, CL can't be carried forward for the next year. While PL and SL can be carried forward..
Some companies encash the available PL at the end of the year while some companies do the cash only at the time of separation from the company.

Thank you so much for sharing the topic leave policyin cite hr and no of friends also posted that each company has different leave policy i also agree that but my query is that according to company act what is leave policy and how leave can be availed ? .

Legally there is no provision of CL & SL under Factories Act. Similary under Shops and Establishment Act the Leave structure is defined. So the leave structure may vary depending on the act applicable to you.
Taking the base of the statutory frame work you can design your own leave structure and rules thereof.
