Azim Premji's comment on reservation

Vaish Started The Discussion:

Wipro chairman Mr. Azim prem ji's comment on reservation: Good one..read on....

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC /ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.

Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.

There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country.. )

Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..)

Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward...

Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let's be proud of being an INDIAN..

May the good breed of politicans like ARJUN SINGH long live...

if Azim Premji was OBC or SC/ST, would his reaction be the same? Reservations are given and standards r reduced to make bigger things reach the lower strata. Regards, Dr. Prageetha

Such cmments were not expected from the person like him. Better if he give some solution on how to develop the competency level of candidates belonging to these catagories . Rajendra Gehlot

“Reservations are given and standards r reduced to make bigger things reach the lower strata.” by a Dr

Wow What a Line???

Lower Strata!!!!

Bigger Things!!!!

Reservations help lower strata get bigger things is it?????

Whatta Eye Opener!!!!

So Great things come from "RESERVATIONS"

Well Long Long Ago, just 5 yrs back, A guy (who didn’t have Reservation!!!) was studying on his varendah!!! One friend of his…… said” Babu! You study 10hrs a day, for the damn EAMCET!!! (An Engineering entrance Test of Andhra) You won’t get a seat raa!! Remember you are not an OBC or SC/ST, how do u expect a seat????
Rahul said, “Shut up! OK, I believe in my hard work, I study Day and Night for my GOAL, AIM, Ambition ………………… (Some crap).”
His friend said “Ok Lets See”

Results came in…..He got a decent rank which could not get him an MBBS Seat, but a dentist one!! hehehehehehehehehe Smile.....aaaaaaahhhh

In the contrary the same Decent Rank + few more thousands = A reservation Guy (gets the Seat!!! Wow!!!! Doctor...... Hello Doctor)

RESERVATION – STANDARDS – BIGGER THINGS for Lower Starta…….

Reservation: Upliftment of LOWER STRATA by stepping on the DESERVING CANDIDATES.

Well don take it serious guys…….We’ll have a great time with education from now on in INDIA. For getting a seat u need to be a person who has got a particular caste and bit of reading and writing.

Lets Spread the message to all the poorer countries and let them come here and claim some caste over here and study over here.

Now ReSerVation is what, SelfFinance- PAISA FENKO AUR DOCTOR BANO.

INDIAN CRICKET TEAM- Very long time- AveRage 6 Players Are BRAHAMIN.- This IS The ResErVation.

INdian Prime MInister- MANY MORE ARE brAHamin

This is not good comment of Ajim Premji on REservation. His Resposnibility is that he may help poor INDIA.

Hi all,

If at all this is written by Ajim Premji, it is shocking! Does it mean that he and the likes of him choose to be ignorent of the plight of thousands of Dalits and tribals who are deprived of basic education, leave alone higher education for more than 3,000 years of thier existence? Before commenting one should at least try to know the ground reality.
1.What the government should do at this juncture is to bring a checking authority to see if the quotas go to the real beneficiaries.
2. Remove the second, third generation beneficiaries out of the quotas. 3. If there is no claim by the sc/sts in higher education seats it should b given to others.
4. Increase the number of seats in the merit list/general catagory. If there is only one seat available in some departments it is only common sense to increase them.
5. To avoid Brain Drain, the beneficiaries, either through quotas or merit list students should at least have the committment to serve thier country for taking the benefit/advantage of the government relaxations.
6. Quotas by themselves are not discriminatory. It is only in the prudent use of the quotas that the crux lies.

Hi Friends,

Lot of comments and feedback about Mr. Azim's statement about reservation. All agreed and welcome. But we should remember one thing, reservation should not be based on the caste but on the income of the student's family. I know so many rich people belonging to the SC/ST caste. And so many government employees belong to SC/ST caste threatening their superiors in the name of caste. I know so many FC caste students who also study in street lights. So reservation should be based on the income but not on the caste. For that we, people should be honest and straightforward to take things forward.

Think and let me know your comments...

With Best Regards
Anu

Azim is right.

The reservation should be based on capabilities and that is checked by exams, no examption on the basis of caste, income.

Please please please dont support Reservation, I can not expect reservation support at least from learned people that too from HR who fight for equal justice.

Think of the time when foreign universities will come to India, how will we combate with them?

Lord Mclay has already made our education system a poor one why we are adding to it?

Think as a neutral, will reservation help us to make our country really great?

Think of it.

If at Azimji had said those words then HE IS 100% Correct!!!

“Upper castes have been able to buy their way” vs. “Merit should be the only consideration for allotment of seats”. The argument assumes that all upper castes are rich which is incorrect. Also it must be brought to light that the institutions in which the admission is sought the admission is provided strictly based on merit and hence, the argument that upper castes can “buy their way” is also factually incorrect.

Some more ridiculous reservation statements

Reservation of 50% of seats in government buses to OBC, SC and STs.
Reservation of 50% of seats in parliament to OBC, SC and STs.
Reservation of 50% of posts in army, navy and air force to OBC, SC and STs.
Reservation of 50% of Indian Cricket team for OBC, SC and STs.
Reservation of 50% of characters in movies to OBC, SC and STs.
Reservation of 50% in all media, TV and news channels.
Reservation of 50% roads, railways and airlines of the country.

It does not make sense to reserve seats in the name of social justice. Let’s divide the country into two parts and let all the OBC, SC and ST stay in one part of the country and the rest stay in the other part, much like the India-Pakistan divide in 1947, so that the problem is once for all solved.

The fact that these institutions are subsidized by the government does not give it right to allot seats to anybody as per its whims and fancies. The fact is that government runs on tax payer’s money and it is obliged to show some respect to these tax payers in terms of honest utilization of public resources to productive purposes. Allotting seats arbitrarily is against efficient utilization of resource principle.

Instead of basing the scheme based on economic status, which also buy the way can be forged and faked in this country, the government uses a simple barometer called “caste” to discriminate amongst its own people, clearly going against the principles of the constitution. A more prudent step would be to find out if the person of such a caste is really economically backward and provide him with the benefit. But the problem in this country is that there ninety percent of the population, ie ninety crore people are poor and need help. Government does not have funds nor guts to go in this direction. However, it doesn’t make sense to allot a seat to a person who has not studied hard and does not deserve it and also simultaneously deprive the much deserving candidate of the seat.

The problem lies in the fact that in the country with its meager resources there are not enough seats to satisfy all. Each year thousands of lives are destroyed because they have not been able score a few marks in these highly competitive exams. This hyper competition creates tremendous amount of pressure among these young students who dream and aspire for better life. The fact is that the country is a poor country and the poorest are looking at the less poor and feeling jealous.

Just because a person belong to an upper caste does not give the government the right to deprive him of a future. The only thing government knows to do is mediocritize the competent institutions which have brought fame and repute to the country in the international arena.

Government must find means to privatize education and try to increase the pool of available seats so that there are seats available for all. With the high demand low supply scenario and government intention of tilting the scale in favor of its own vote bank creates an increased demand and reduced supply scenario adversely impacting certain sections of society. This creates an even more hyper competitive scenario and kills the futures of hundreds of bright people of this country and wastage of raw talent of this country which would go waste.
