Salary Survey

Can anybody guide me how to conduct salary survey... My company is an IT Company my people asked me to do salary survey for Software Engineer,Sr.Software Engineer,Team Lead,Architect & Manager.

Guide me pls.

Hello friend,

Conducting a salary survey on your own is although not "impossible" but very difficult and not advisable. It is better to contact a consultant who would understand your needs and conduct a survey and provide conclusive findings with recommendations. If you need names of consultants you may give your e-mail id - I would suggest.

You would need to decide about getting the data about following companies:
1. Your direct competitors ( say 2 companies)
2. Companies which are not directly competing but your people can go there. ( 2 Companies)
3. Companies where your people have actually left you and joined. ( 2-3 companies.

Therefore you may ask your consultant to conduct survey of about 7-8 companies and provide you information on salary levels and what percentile level these companies are with respect to your own company.

Based on analysis you will be able to decide your compensation review strategy.
