Hi,

Before I answer, let me share a concern.

One thing why HR professionals in most organisations are not as liked as they should be, is because of the lack of respect they show to their own employees.

I guess one of the best solutions for your problem is to seek the expertise of your own employees. The best ones in each field can be identified easily with a few cross-talks.

Talk to the select group(selected on the basis of Performance Appraisals if you have access to it, or on the basis of informal talks as start performers are well-known, even if not documented) of technical employees of your company and state your purpose and highlight how their help could aid in recruitment of better people. Divide the workload among the selected employees i.e. you may ask each identified Officer to give you 20-25 questions. The success of this, would entirely depend on your tact in how you manage them.

Once you get these questions, get these cross-checked by each other to make sure that the questions are clear, accurate and properly worded. If you want to be extra-safe,you can get it finally vetted by a superior authority within your office by approaching him with a question paper so made. Since the background work has already been done and seeing an HR professional function effectively with a business sense, there are very fair chances of getting his/ her help.

Going in for a google search or an online question bank might not help you in spotting the real talents. You can get customised questionnaires from your own employees. Go for it.

I say this out of experience. Try it once, if you have time and patience because it may take you a few rounds as they might be busy. But, i tell you its worth the wait and the efforts. Your consistent efforts can get you a Question Bank ensuring that subsequent visits to them are for up-dation or modifications only.
