what will be my career line

i have around 3 years experience in HR field. i started as executive, and after 3 years i am working as AM- HR now. it was a small company, but i learned a lot. there was no mangaer over my head, and i used to do it onmy own with consultation with my md. but recently due to bad environment of the company,it was impossible to stay inthis environment, thats why i left the job. now whenever i go for interview, they usually ask me about developed things which normally a HR manager does, like policy formulatin, competency mapping etc. but as i was the only HR person in mycompany, i didn,t find time to do all this, i have developed some of these things, but my main profile ws of generalist only, what should i do now, should i go for sr. executive profile, where i can handle generalist functions, as i not speciallized in any particualr function, only the general one, all of them, like payroll, recruitment, etc. waht should ido,? and what kind fo companies will suit me best.
