RMMS was founded in mumbai in 1946 by some congress leaders and since then is affiliated to Congress(I)..
During peak years of textiles business in mumbai RMMS was one of the major Unions and had strong support..After the 1984 all mills collapsed and RMMS became just another sundry union in the mumbai labour union circle. However after the assassination of Dr Datta Samant, the ace union leader of mumbai, it again became dominant and started capitalizing on big mill-evacuating-and-land-selling scandals across the girangaum area.
it is currently headed by Mr Sachin Ahir (MLA) and step brother of Mr Arun Gawli
Its name surfaces whenever a big chunk of mill-land is tried being sold out...
