Dear Manmitha,
You are lucky that you got chance to work as an HR. you should accept this job. Do not worry even when I joined as an HR i was new in this filed and now I am handling 600 employees in north region and every one in our company knows about me. You just follow the HR process. Recruitment and payroll is the major responsiblity of HR. You can search from google regarding this. Every thing is available on google.com.
Best of Luck for your new responsibility.

dear manmitha,

first of all congratulations... :) see i too joined as a HR in a small IT company few months back just like you and i was previously in sales... its very true that you will feel tensed for first few days,bt bilieve me its a very interesting profile to work in....although recriutment and payroll are the keyrolls you will have to perform.but as you into a small concern you will have to kip in mind alot many things other than these.they are as follows;

1) try to interact with the employees and make them feel free so that they share with you wht problem they are facing in the concern.

2) assure them that what they are telling you against management you are not going to pass them to others.

3) whatevr you come to knw inform your boss or the director or the concerned person so that steps can taken to stop attrition. dnt think you are dishonest by doing this because HRs are there in the concern jst as a middleman between higher authority and employees.

4) keep in mind that a single wrong statement in front of any of the groups can create a problem in the concern as well as personal life of yours and the employees.

after these if you face any other problem that you cant handle alone you can ask your boss to help you or you can ask him for suggestion. am sure he/she will help you.but keep in mind you will have to be very tactful in handling any issue.

so all the best.......and if you need any other help all the members of citeHR are with you....so dont worry.....kip smiling.......... :) :D :) :D

hi,
Good to know you got a good oppurtunity.
I would suggest is first of all don't be nervous else you will make more mistakes.
Secondly during the interview i am sure u must have mentioned you are not well versed with HR responsibilities, still they offered you the post, which means you have got chances to make mistakes and learn from them.
next is, you can't learn in one day, so what you can do is start working understannd the company you are working for, what are their requirements, study your organisation, automatically you will learn.Start from the basics set them in place first and then take a step ahead. Don't try and do things at one time.
And last but not the laest if you come across any probs or are stuck at ny situation then we do have the gurus out here on cite HR, ask them learn from them.
You can make things work you just need to start.

Hi Manmitha,
to start with, first gather data on employees, understand thier profiles, this would give you an insight into the working of people.
This would also help you in sourcing people in case there is future requirement.
Study personal files, they would tell you wahat is the xisting system and how can you improve upon them...

Dear Manmitha!!!!
Congrats!!!
Well, don't be scared, don't be tensed...
forget about the post of those 8 people in your office.
I would suggest you to have a Face to face individual interaction with all the 8 members.
jot down points like their experience, work profile, their qualification.
Build the relationship with them in a manner they will understand what is the need to know about their professional career.
Recruitment will really help once you understand the kind of profile of all these 8 members.
understand more about the company profile... for your own information and to keep yourself strong.
do an exercise wihch will help you, that is .
write down pooints about the compny profile, strength of the organization, the 8 members profile, the various clients they have, map out the compentencies of the 8 members ( in a chart).
Later on get into PF and ESI.
This will start helping you being strong and slowly you can widen to other HR activities.

first you take the help cite HR discussions and downloads(it supporeted me in the initial days)
discuss with your boss what work does he/she expects from you
maintain employee profiles and attendance Leaves records
slowly concentrate on other aspects of hr
if you have learning ability i can assure you that you will get success
