CPM & PERT Techniques - Critical Path

Sandeep Dhabarde Started The Discussion:

Hi Friends Very good day

I want to know more about two management techniques CPM & PERT. and what is the difference between two.

what is my knowledge ....
these are used to define & coordinate various activities of a project & successfully accomplish the objectives on time. CPM analysis is activity orientaed which focus interest on start and completion of event rather than activity. whereas PERT is event or job oriented.

Regards
Sandeep

Hi Friends,

Iam Shankar Manohar working in Wipro Technologies and doing my MBA in HR thru Correspondance.

I have a following problem in Pert Concept and looking for a solution on this.
Please give me a solution in detail for this problem if possible.

It will be of a great help for me in my academics.

Activity Predecessor Duration(weeks)
a m b

A -- 6 7 8

B -- 1 2 9

C -- 1 4 7

D A 1 2 3

E A,B 1 2 9

F C 1 5 9

G C 2 2 8

H E,F 4 4 4

I E,F 4 4 10

J D,H 2 5 14

a) Construct Project Network
b) find Expected Duration and Variance of each activity
c) Find critical path and expected Project Completion time
d)Probabilty of Completing the project on 4 b4 25 weeks.
