Doubt on cbdt update on hra
Dear all first of all a great thanks to the auto search plugin that helps to know if a similar thread has been posted. my question is as below. as per the new circular from central board of direct taxes cbdt on 10 october 2013 if annual rent paid by an employee exceeds rs.1 lakh per annum it is mandatory for the employee to report pan of the landlord to the employer. i am in kerala and paying a rent of only 7600/ per month which comes to rs. 91200/ annually. so as per the circular i understand its not mandatory for me to give the landlords pan no. however the accounts department of my office has asked me to furnish the pan card number of the landlord and told me that it is a must irrespective of whether the amount exceeds 1 lakh or not. they are saying that this update came as a different circular later on and this was informed by the audit office to them. i would like to confirm if this is true. is there any other circular with regard to hra for it exemption from i did get many links on this topic receipts.html and ndlordmust.html are few of it. but none of them explains as to what happens if the annual rent is below 1 lakh.

Rent receipts for hra - cash bassi or accrual basis
For claiming hra is the rent paid to be considered on accrual basis or cash basis? in other words should we consider rent receipts date or for which period the rent applies. for example for the fy april 1 2014 to march 31 2015 if the employee pays rent in the following month march rent paid on april 5 then should we take: 1 rent receipts for the occupancy period march 2014 to feb 2015 which will have receipts dated between april 2014 to march 2015? or 2 rent receipt for the occupancy period april 2014 to march 2015 which will have receipts dated between may 2014 to april 2015? thanks for your advice.
House rent self declaration format
Its time to submit investment declaration and other tax saving documents in my company. my company says that in order to get benefit of tax exemption on hra i have to submit rent receipts with either of one i.e. rent agreement or self declaration form. so i have rent receipts but i don t have agreement done with my flat owner so now i need a format for rent self declaration. please provide me with house rent self declaration format. thanks in advance.
Hra exemption - pan of landlord mandatory
Hi income tax department has recently released no: 08/2013 f.no. 275/192/2013itb dated 10.10.2013 vide which it has been stated that an employee who is claiming house rent exemption hra exemption and if annual rent paid by the employee exceeds rs.100000/ one lakh per annum it is for the employee to report pan of the landlord to the employer / company. circular specified that in case that landlord does not have pan employee can give a declaration to this effect along with name and address of the landlord to his/her employer. regards ramesh g
